Is this cable any good? - Nokia Flash Reverse Electronic Engineering

I have an old samsung data cable, not sure what its off but it fits the slot on the bottom of my d500

When I plug it into the d500 it comes up saying its charging even if its not connected to the computer

It has a switch on the side that says "data" and "DL" and a socket like the one on the bottom of the phone (that the cable plugs into) maybe its to plug the charger into while you use the cable?

Its a serial cable, not USB, will I be able to use it for anything with my d500 (unlocking or data transfer) or is it useless?

I think is a good cable.

The switch is for data transfer or flash mode.
