Sorry but could someone tell me (or post where I can find) a description of what is stored in each of these locations in a Nokia phone. I know a little about them but would like more detail. Thx!

From a website I found in my bookmarks:

MCU SW - software for phone. Saved in flash memory.
PPM - part with texts, T9 dictonaries, codepages, etc. specific for concrete languages. There are prepared many PPM for each phone, because normally flash memory is too small for info for all languages. Saved in flash memory
EEPROM - in older phones in separate small memory chip (8, 16, 32 kB, etc.). It was possible to read or write it using special EEPROM programator ;-)). In this moment is emulated in flash memory. Contains configuration for phone like IMEI, simlock data, etc.
PMM blocks - available in some new phones with emulated EEPROM in flash. Contains phonebook, WAP cache, SMS memory, etc. When you will clear it and use phone reset function, every (really) every setting will be reseted (clearing PPM is, for example, solution for 6210 hanging during opening SMS folder). PMM blocks are very often included into EEPROM memory.

Thanks for the reply!

If someone modifies a phone to say auto-answer with no ring when a specific number calls the phone, where would this program be stored? PPM? or EEPROM?

Most likely the MCU

Hmmm.... Strange.... I compared this modified 3310 MCU with a virgin 3310 MCU and they are identical. I'm trying to figure out where this feature is programmed into for "spy" phone type thing.

Could you email me a fullflash of it to [email protected]. I'd like to look into it myself...
