Nokia 8810

I have a 8810, that is totally dead, nothing happens when you plug a charger into at all, even though the battery receives a charge (i checked the voltage after about 3 hours and it reads something like 3.6/3.8 volts) and it jst wont power up. i have heard that this is an easy fix but the uy is unwilling to divulge the info.
Anybody have any info about this problem or do i need to take it to a nokia service centre?

took phone apart to make sure all the battery contacts are ok and they are
