I know there is much talk about this at the moment, but I cannot find a straight answer to my question.

I bought a Nokia 8310 that is locked to Orange. I would like to unlock it to work on all networks.

When I check the version via *#0000# i get the following:

V 05.06
07-03-02
NHM-7

And I have tried most of the free software that is available to download for DCT-4 unlocking. They all put the phone into test mode and then tell me that the phone connection cannot be made. Here is what I get on the Nokia DCT4 Tool - V1.0 Beta - 2002 by TechTron:

Entering test mode & Rebooting phone...
ERROR: Phone does not answer!
----------------
Check phone connection, and that phone is powered on!

The cable I am using is MBUS & FBUS compatible. And I am using the program on MBUS(currnetly the only supported protocol).

Any help folks??

Thanks,

I always use this upto (not inc) V5.57

My mate has to use the Techtron one to put the phone in test mode then runs this one and it unlocks it. I only have to use this one though? Think its something to do with cables??

Thanks, but I have tried that and it tells me that it is a privilaged instruction.

Would it make any difference if I have windows xp installed?

I have unlocked phones that are dct3 with XP.

I have appached a screenshot of the program, and the phone just stays normal, it doesnt enter test mode.

use this to put your phone into test mode (just press unlock)

afer this use jic to unlock (do not disconnect phone from the cable)

phone must be on when u try to put it into test mode...

i use techtron for unlocking old versions of 8310 like the one u have, with same fbus/mbus cable and i have no problems...

maybe u need to use win98se...

@Alinus
I can put the phone into test mode using techtron and then when I try to unlock using JIC it just says cannot establish a link to the phone.

Any other suggestions??

Thanks

I just got it working somehow. I put the phone into test mode on one computer, then pluged the data cable into my laptop, which is also Windows XP. Then I tried JIC, Techtron and a few others with no success. I tried to set the compatiblity modes adn it still didnt work. But I kept trying and it just happened to work one time.

Does anyone know why it didnt work before with the same settings?

It has unlocked aswell, it is not just saying that it has because I have tried putting Virgin simcard into it and it is working 100%.

Thanks folks
