hi
just some curiosity about imei numbers
here is what i know.

15 digit number,
logged whenever you make a call
can be used to prevent calls

now im using a nokia 3410 and when i connect it to eeprom tools the imei box does not show a 15 digit number why is this.
which makes me think about the repair of the imei, would it let you type in a 15 digit number.

and from curiosity, is there structure to the imei, i ask this because i know that they can be changed and that this has certain legal ramifications, but can you just pick any 15 numbers you want and thats fine or are they like a code that is interpreted by the call center

The imei can be any fifteen digit number but make the begining 35 then you will need to use knok phoneix to repair imei and then change the imei number. Eeprom tools won't change the imei number.

Thank you

I believe IMEI also contains Brand/model information, after some flashing my IMEI is currently 0x00. No problems with that but there's also a secundary IMEI U can't change

@Pierre you can change both using Rolis etc

@icarus_omega you can only type in a 14 digit number because the final digit is calc'ed by the phone.

You can choose any 14 digits for the IMEI number, but there is a meaning for them.

the imei structure is:
XXXXXX-XX-XXXXXX-X

the first 6 digits are actually 2 and 4:
2 digits for manufacturer (35, 44 and 49 for Nokia)
and 4 digits for model (ex: 0150 for 3330)

i'm not sure about the next 2 digits, i think its the country that the phone was assembled in.

the next 6 digits are the serial number of your phone (you can type any number you want)

and the last digit is spare, it is calculated by the phone.

that's it, hope it helps in something ;)

Yotamz: "2 digits for manufacturer (35, 44 and 49 for Nokia)", but i know alot of Siemens phones which IMEI starts with 35 and 44 ...

there are more phones that their imei starts with 35, 44 and 49, but what i mean is that all the nokia phones begin with these numbers and there are no nokia phones that have other numbers there (unless if you change it of course :) )

if you want to generate legitimate IMEI numbers the use this prog:

this has all been very helpful thank you.

i was looking at the aig100 app that sinister frog provided a link to and all models of phone start with 35 44 etc so draw your own conclusions from that. this program also gives you a chance to repair the imei number, but would you consider this progam trustworthy to do this

ive heard a lot of mention of rolis and i am interested in it, where could i download a version with support for the 3410

thank you all
