I just revived 3310 that got soaked in water but it shuts off when logging to a network, I reflashed and updated the flash id many times, changed the hagar 3x, the RF Amp 2x, and the 26Mhz osc at least 3x but still got the problem.
Please help me!!!
soaked? Best do not attach battery. Bring to a mobile techie if possible. I seen set that was soaked and within minutes you could see signs of corrosion if battery attached or still power on. Power off when searching networks? You Power Amplifier has a problem that need to be replace. so its a hardware modification. I dun think software will work. sorry!:(

thanks Ming, I did suspect th PA and as I said in my post I changed it twice and now 4 times with new amplifiers and still have the problem. As for corrosion theres no problem as I have the gadget and solutions for cleaning and I did clean it.
Any other suggestions!!!:)

Hi
Get a dish and fill up with turpentine. Leave the circuit board in the dish for 20 minutes. Take out the circuit board and rinse with water. Then get some washing up liquid and a tooth brush. brush the circuit board well including all gaps. Brush all over the circuit board for about 10 minutes. Rinse the washing up liquid off the circuit board. Pat with a towel both sides. Get a hair dryer and dry the circuit board for 15 minutes all over. When the circuit board is dry it will get really hot. put back in phone turn on and it should work ok.

Since you have tried changing the PA and didn't work, I think you can try putting flux underneath HAGAR, CCONT and hot air em. If it still dont work try taking em out and replace with new lead or solder ball. Well, if theres corrosion beneath em its not visible. Try on hagar first then ccont. If still don't work then try replacing. Do Not trust the one you have just change or replaced cos you will never knw if they are fully functional or not even if they are new. :)

DO NOT use Terpentine... Terpentine is a organical disolver - this means that components with plastic housing will be dammaged...
also tepentine leaves some kind of trail be hind in form of small partikels...
Also it's not a POLAR fluid lige eg. water or ethanol...
so my advice is: use somesort of organical oil and then give it a bath in 50% ethanol and 50% water, and let it dry for a day... that how we do it in my company... I work with PCB's on a dayly basis

thanks to all you guys, water damaged units is not really a problem to me until this one and I'm still working on it. I'm getting a feeling that most of the components I've purchased lately are defective. I tried some of them on working units and found some to be not working at all, so maybe I'll changing the components I've installed earlier on my problematic 3310 as Ming advised not to trust the components
Its really great to be in this wonderful forum w/ wonderful people :) :) :)
