Heya everyone!
I've built my own flasher cable and I've managed to update mine and a mates' 3310's to 05.79. It works fine, but its the way my computer reacts is what I don't like.
The LPT port setting that actually works on this Win98 machine has the setting for the Input/Output range of 03BC to 03BF, which translates to being knows as the same setting for "LPT3". Making the change in Windows Device Manager for it to use the range 0378 to 037F (which is the setting for "LPT1") works sometimes... If it does, I am able to use Rolis 4.77 with the setup option to use LPT1. If it doesn't work, the computer hangs temporarily then automatically restarts, and wont enter Windows again unless you go into Safe Mode or change the address back to 03BC in the BIOS before you start it up again. I've even done the full change of setting the LPT in the BIOS to 0378 after removing LPT Port from Device Manager, and letting Windows install drivers for New Hardware. That worked sometimes, but very often, just as the install was about to finish the computer would restart again, and I'd be back to same place as I'd started.
So does anyone have any ideas of how I could correct such a problem? Or somehow make Rolis have an option for LPT3 (like knok does) ?
I'm looking forward to hearing what people have to say :)
