Hi,

I have a Nokia 8850 that when switched on it is saying contact service, i have flash cables and can download the dejan flasher, but where do i start to fix this problem??

I have been reading topics on this forum and most of them say i will need a start and finish address to flash the phone, does anybody have this type of info for a 8850?

I would be gratful if anybody could help with this problem, many thanks in advance.

Andy
Address for nokia 8850 is mcu = 00200000 to 00340000 , ppm = 00340000 to 003D0000 and eeprom = 003D0000 to 00400000
Only write a full backup if it is to the phone which it was read .
You need to flash with the same mcu/pmm package as was originaly in your phone or you will get no networks.
Try this site for more info and programs.
http://www.superunlockers.uk6.net/

Allways make a full backup of your phone before you attempt flashing.

Good luck

it says contact service right after you switch it on or first it says INSRT SIM and the CONTACT SERVICE?
if first:
flash it with a flash from brad.satelit.cz and send me log
if second:
just reflash it with same flash from 200000 to 340000 or from 200000 to 300000...
this is working 100% if is not hardware problem.....

Graham,

If i download a partial flash with the same software version and leave the eeprom alone will i still get a network??

The site you gave has the partial flash files, can i just copy this to the phone or is it not as simple as that?? sorry as you can see i am new to this

I will make a full back up before i start just in case this does not work

Hi Andy

If by a partial flash you mean the unlocking flash or just the mcu from 200000 to 340000 then ok go for it.
If you are flashing beyond this you need to have the same language pack see http://brad.satelit.cz/
If you are still not working you will need logger to read your phone and post a log so Abe can post you the new log.
Should be working soon Good luck

Can i download this "logger" from the internet??

Would just flashing the MCU fix the "contact service" errors, thanks very much for your help so far.

Yes please try just the mcu first.
I have not used the logger to repair a flash checksum before but many people on this board have.
I have attatched the program for you to use if needed.
You will need the serial lead for this.

To obtain version:

Get Flash part from 0020.0000 u/i 0020.0300

Read this file in a hex or text viewer and your mcu version is somehow readable there, like 5.27 in: (õÙê ö2V 5.27 16-02-01 NSM-2 (c) NMP. )

Look for Full flash of that version and follow Grahams instruction on reentering a clean MCU at 20.0000-34.0000.
