Just wondering was was involved in reflashing a Nokia 8310 (DCT4). Do i just need a flasher cable and use DCT 4 Flashing software (Can't be that simple), or im guessing there is alot more to it than that.

Is the process atleast simular to flashing a DCT3, Flash with Flasher cable then use Data cable to update FAID etc.

If there is any other hardware involved does anyone have schematics to build it?

Just asking cause i am looking at a buying a dead (water damage)8310 and might need a reflash and would also like to be able to update firmware to latest.

Thanks.

You need a DCT4 flasher cable with heads and the bundled software to flash a DCT4. The main diff is that you cant read flash from phones. Theese flasher can upload flash, calc faid, repair contact service. Nothing special like any f/mbus cable with a dct3 phone.

Buying a water damaged phone is not a good business in my opinion except that the price is lower than the usable parts from it (like housing, battery, lcd, etc).
Dont invest in DCT4 Flasher kits hoping it will work again!!!

Thanks Kaos

Have u had or heard of any experences with the Nokia DCT4 Flasher? Have the schematics for one and can build it easily enough, but was wondering how well it actually worked with the 8310. I guess some versions would work, but maybe not latest and while u see people here having trouble with it i guess there not really going to post a message saying the DCT4 flasher worked as it was supposed to!!

Thanks for the warning but im not buying a water damaged 8310 in the hope that if i get a flasher it will work straight away. Would of done a good cleanup on board, reflow and then flash new firmware into it and be left with the fact that it could still be dead. Have heard some people say that they have had pretty good success rates with water damaged phones.

Thanks Again
