Quiet ringtone from 8310

I have a Nokia 8310 which has a very quiet ringtone. Everything else seems to operate correctly. I have used the 'factory reset' and set the ringtone to level 5 but it is still much too quiet to use.
(The vibrate function works OK)
I have read threads about 'flashing' with new software (mine has V 4.53) but this seems to be required only when the ringer does not have any sound at all.
Any ideas anyone?

I bought one to and it was so quiet.
I had it sent away but without any luck.
They gave me a new phone.

Probably a bad batch.

Take it to a nokia dealer, is it under warranty.

It's not new..bought it off Ebay.
Can you tell me which software version is in yours?
(Just press *#0000# and it will tell you) assuming
your replacement is a 8310 and sounds OK.
