keypad leds on 8310 not working

hi all
just joined the forum looks very good but I have a prob with my phone. just bought 2 8310's 1 locked £30 and 1 damaged £10. fixed the damaged one and it is open to orange but the keypad lights dont work. if I swap keypads over still no good but both keypad lights work on locked phone board. any ideas?

could be that the main pcb board in the damaged phone's contacts need checking out, what sort of damage has ocured?

unsure about previous interference as I had to re-solder on to the board a new up volume button and I was told there was water damage. the board seems clean with no localised heat but as soon as I replaced the battery and re-soldered the button away it went. I'm not really concerned about the keypads but it would have been nice seeing as the locked one is all ok. I have downloaded the dct4 tools and dect4 unlock prog but havent purchased a lead yet. Do you know if a serial lead will work with these progs or not ?

At the minute im using a serial port cable so ya should be ok with that, i got mine off ebay and it works ok www.ebay.co.uk pick em up quite cheap.
only real thing ya could do is look out for a pcb for an 8310 if ya really wanted it back to new.
ya could help me out if ya could, the 8310 that you do have when the ringer is on 5 would you say its loud or reasonably quiet?
the one ive got dont seem all that loud.

I have received my 8310 serial adaptor and I can unlock one of my 8310s to other networks with techtron dct4 tools but as the set is still barred it seems that the only way is to re-engineer imei, and we all know there is no chance at the moment. On the question of the sound vol 5 does seem a little quiet compared to my 7110 and 8210 and 5210 but apparently the earlier ones were anyway and my sw is 4.53 which makes it an earlier one anyway.
