ok guys,,, how do you know that the car isn't stopped? It can be just a trick....

well, it doesn't have to be faked, on the german highways there no speed restrictions, so its allowed to drive that over there.
But if its true, thats gotta be a boosted calibra if u ask me:)

Hi guys and
"right lane drivers" > reverse in countries with "left traffic".

Why you dont believe that? We have in Germany only a recommended speed of 130 km (~ 85 mph) but it is not a limit (with the exception of dangerous sections).

This Opel Calibra A is a model 2,0 16V Turbo with some modifications at the turbocharger.

Finally for all car racing fans. I have a video about a speed race between an Opel Corsa A vs. Ferrari 360 Modena. The result: The opel wins significant. Tuning is a good way. This video has 6,6 MB, to big to send. But if anyone are interested and has Streamload, I can upp it, no problem.

I too like tuned cars, like many others here. So why not the pic wouldīnt be real?I belive it is.

But I think that itīs not taken with your 7650?
After all, thatīs why this forum is, to post pics taken with the 7650...

Hi, Nanda,

yeah, we are not crazy. This pics are shooted by a 2nd people. Over a speed of 200 km/h (135 mp/h) you can go to hell if you leave your both hands from the steering wheel.

You're crazy, you guys.

I've got a Chevrolet Astra (same as Opel Astra I suppose, I mean we've had the same cars in Brazil as Opel since 1979 I guess - I know more about Nokias than I know about cars) and I've never been past 130 km/h with it. (I've got a 3-door, 2,0 16V Chevrolet Astra that used to be my mum's).

Nanda
06-03-2003, 05:34 AM
And I don't have a clue about how much that is in MPH (Brazil was the first country to adopt the metric system after France in 18something so nobody here has a clue about miles, yards etc. - that's alien to us sorry).

Mercedes

Well hello to you too!
Howīs Brazil doing today?
130 km/h is 80,7 m/ph, so 1 km/h equals to 0,62 miles per hour.
I agree with Sackgesicht about the driving part...no matter what type of car you have here, the finnish roads aint the best in the world...So I hope no one tryīs anything stupid by themselves...
we have a speed limit of 100 km/h on the motorways in the winter, and in the summer itīs 120 km/h max.
Everything above that is illegal...(If you get caught...)

Hi, Mercedes,

Everything above that is illegal...(If you get caught...)

Legal - illegal - you know the race videos of "Get away in Stockholm" - every cool driver knows these.

This (crazy?) peoples are driving over 300 km/h (> 200 MPH) and the existing speed limit?

Not in a Mercedes... you could go to sleep at those speeds while driving a Benz!

I took this picture myself, the car will do a bit more than this 120mph (~200 km/h)

'Mercedes' - do you approve of my choice of car? And can anyone tell what model of Mercedes I have?

Oh by the way, Mercedes' picture of 300km/h is from the film 'Getaway in Stockholm 2' ;).

He, pentoman,

oh, you are a "speed specialist" and a friend of the vids Getaway in Stockholm. I have both parts at CD-ROM. Cool stuff.

And you must have a good Benz. Runs it more than 200 km/h? More than 230 km/h? Than it was a competitor for the car of my son. But I'm happy, if he leave the hand at the steering wheel.

Best greetings from Germany

his car is one from the fastest of Honda..... (but not from the top model like S 2000), one class deeper)

Hi Sackgesicht! No, Iīve heard about these films, but never seen īem...yet!
Pentoman, I see you like also to "follow the star"...very nice!
Your car model..errr...well, my guess would be MB 190 2,6 ?
...though Iīm not so sure...
What is it?
You know, itīs nice that we share also other common things here, just like this that many of us like different sorts of cars, and likes to toy a little bit with them!

pentoman

Mercedes - you are very close. It is a 190E, but not the 2.6.

The 2.6 has a higher redline (red marks start later on the rev counter), mine is just a 2.0, but it's still good for over 120 mph :)

I'm looking for a good condition 500E to buy, but haven't found one yet.

Mercedes

Ok!
Iīve never seen a 190E 2.0 before, only 190E diesel models. The dashboard looks very impressive compared to those diesels, itīs just plain speedo, fuel and clock!
A 500E!
Now thatīs what I call a car! Any particular vintage in mind?. Iīve seen just a few of those here in Finland, extremely rare at these parts...
I think that you should use lots of time to find a good one...theyīre quite expensive so they need to be inspected carefully, otherwise you might end up havin something veeery bad in your hands...
:) :)

pentoman
08-03-2003, 05:35 PM
A 500E is indeed something worth spending time looking for the right one. I'm not worried about the year of the car (500E or E500), only the condition and mileage.

My ideal one is black with cream leather interior - as in the attached picture. I've only seen one 500E in my whole life!

pentoman
08-03-2003, 05:36 PM
And to keep somewhat on topic - another speedo! I think it's from an SL or S-class.

Mercedes

Oh yes...!
The black beauty is exellent...itīs a sleeper really, youīd better not to wake it up, otherwise...heh...
Yeah, theyīre hard to find, top of the line models...not very many sold. And if someone has got one, more likely he or she has it for the same reason that you want it.
I think that all yearmodels are good. When the body was changed to W210, the E 500 got dropped out, or was replaced with the E 420. Last year the E 500 was launched again, now on body W211.
Still I feel that the only "real" 500E model is just the one similar to your picture...

pentoman
09-03-2003, 03:02 AM
Mercedes - I am surprised/impressed that you know the model codes of the E-classes!

The W124 500E was the top of the line 'performance' E-class, and only the W210 E55 AMG and latest W211 E55 AMG Kompressor compare to it. They are both newer and faster, but neither have the spirit (or Porsche-built pedigree) of the good old 500E.

If you want to talk Mercedes with many other enthusiasts, come to the forum at www.mercedesshop.com - there are thousands of us and many 500E owners (see Hot-rods section). I post as pentoman (>600 posts!) there also.

I attach a picture of my 190E - I keep it very clean!

Mercedes

:)
Clean?!? Huh...it looks like new!!!
You really do take care of your baby, thatīs nice.
I must admit that I too like keep my Benz very tidy...but during the winter itīs quite difficult with the snow, sand and roadsalt...

... I wouldīnt really compare the AMGīs (E 55) to a E 500, bechause they are "made" by AMG and not the factory. So in this case I did count them out.
The power of a W 124 E 500 is almost "hidden", when the AMGīs look very different from standard ones, and you can see from far that there is trouble coming your way...
Look at my pics on this forum, thereīs a not so good rearend pic from a "AMG E 50" (???) in the bottom, itīs a W124 but has there ever been an AMG E 50? If there has been, thatīs news to me...or then itīs just a joke...
Now I must follow your link to see whatīs there...!

:) :) :)

I saw the E50 picture - weird, I think they made a W210 E50 but not W124. Maybe it is custom, or used to say E500?

Anyway, here's another site you can look at which lists many details and pictures of all the different Mercedes variations through the years.. it's very useful.

Here's a picture of my car, it will do 210kmph very easily, but close ratio gearbox means it would top out at about 230-40kmph. Would go a lot faster with a different gear ratio (but what's the point over in my country the limit is 100) The car is a 1993 mitsubishi lancer.

Cool car you have there!;) It bottoms out at 230-240kph because of the rev limiter. Snip that and some modifications would make your car go over 240kph!!!!

No, it is limited by the gear ratio in the close ratio gearbox - because it is a homologation version of a rally car, it is designed for accelration and torque rather than top speed.

The computer has been chiped and the rev limiter removed, even so I would only be able to get very slightly higher speed, the revs would be at over 7500 rpm which is very bad for the car.
