Hi ive just found your post and very interested in Technical data for the 3210, If possible could you email me data on the hardware. I need schematics and board layouts so i can explore what kind of data is stored on the EEPROMS and chips I have the service manuals but i need to know the details of the actual MCU,PPM,EEPROMS etc

names
sizes of chips

If at all possible email to [email protected]

PS
I have great interest in totally modifying the phone for example here are some of my ideas

Cellular scanner
Extra security
Random IMEI changer
and possibly even accessing the chips through a data cable

If you want details on my ideas then email me but to do this i need data.

I dont understand what data you are looking for!
There is not much reason in needing the name/model/type codes for these chips. They can be accessed by using a £5 cable from EBay.
It is quick nowadays to use software to reverse engineer the code and data maps etc.
All you need is Knok or similar, a Hex editor (UEdit) and some ARM simulation software.
I have schematics and boards layouts if you really need them but I think if you are trying to look at the stored data using cables is easier.
For chip sizes just search this forum or search google using a specific set of words such as "Nokia 3210 EPROM size" or similar.

Some part info:
D300 4370489 Mad2pr1 v5 f721558 33C10 UBGA144UBGA144
D301 4340585 IC, flash mem.UBGA48
D302 4340397 IC, SRAM STSOP3
D303 4340357 IC, EEPROM SO8

If you have the 3210 service manual go read!
ch2sys.pdf/Issue 1 07/99/Page 2-59

Table 31. HD947 Memory Requirements
Device Organization/Access Time(ns)/Wait States Used/Remarks
FLASH/1024kx16/110/1/uBGA48
SRAM/128kx8/120/1/Shrink TSOP32
EEPROM/16kx8///serial IIC SO8

But the page looks better, its 4Megs so ill split it up if you need it!
Have a go at the cable soln first, then get back to me if you need the service manual.

hi h_r_f!

could you send me 3210 details. i need it for im planning to understand hardware programming although i dont really have an idea where to start. but info on a 3210 might be useful coz i've got a 3210 myself.

anyways, if you could give me some tips on where to start, please do so. ill appreciate it very much! like how did these people able to program ppmedit/nokaiflasher...etc. do they understang everything inside the phone. how about the flash? how could they get this out on the phone as well as edit them? i tried to open it in a hex program but i dont understand even a bit!

ive been using programs to flash/edit my phone and it works well!
i want to learn how they do this stuff.

thanks in advance!

The information I have does not cover hardware programming.
Hardware programming is done 'in circuit' with a cable.
A PC is used to program the phones via software on the phone itself.
The commands for communicating with the phone are available on the forum. I do not have software information for this reason.

These are my assumtions:
ppmedit may have been programmed in the following way:
Using copies of ppm sections from different phones changes were made and outcomes explored.
As the data in DCT2 and DCT3 phones is not encrypted you can get an idea of ppm layout, lengths codes, type codes, section descriptors by just looking and comparing. You need to be a certain sort of person to do this well. There is a site out there dedicated to reverse engineering the 5110, which although old, is similar to the 3210 and most other DCT3 phones.

Nokiaflasher and similar software may have been programmed using leaked info from Nokia, but now the info and communication codes to be sent to and from the phone are widely available but might need some searching.

The best people to contact may be the authors of the programs.
Also, might sound stupid, but if there a thousands of DCT3 flashers out there, is it wise to spend time learning how to make your own?

At the end of the day I cant tell you how to understand the flash files. Only where to look to get info.

Myself, I did manage to reverse engineer most of the font PPM and edit fonts on my 5210 not using other peoples software. A good understanding of maths and HEX notation is required, it would help if you knew how files in general are structured so you can spot patterns etc.

I apologise for any spelling mistakes, I canę be arsd to check :)

Dont hesitate to ask a more specific question if I have missed your point or not anserwed what you wanted. Normally I can only relay info from the service manuals I have, I dont have to much time to go into depth with regard to flashfile hacking...

Do you have a diagram of how to make a data cable for a 3510i.
I.e. the pin out of the serial plug and the pin out of the 6 connection points under the battery?
Also sent you a PM about something else.

When I last checked DCT4 phones do not have an accessible "Net Monitor" option.

It may be that DCT4's have this feature (which was easily activated on DCT3's) but I do not know of a way to enable it.

I know you don't list the 7210 in your message, but i think you may be able to help ( or i hope you can) I have a car kit for the above which plugs into the cigerrette lighter socket, when the phone is connected it comes up as being connected to a headset. I remember reading somewhere that a previous model of nokia phone recognises the accesory by a particular value resistor across 2 pins, I opened the car kit and found a 4k7. do you know what this should be to make it think it is connected to a car kit and not a headset? As at the moment the keypad lights go off after a min or so and i cant see to dial the first number in the dark

cheers

Hi h_r_f, need to know where in the flash is stored the actual RSSI (signal strenght) reading that Net Monitor shows in display.

I'm need to read that specific data constantly from other DCT3 phones, like TDMA and CDMA, and think that knowing where is stored in other DCT3, I would be able to find it.

Mr. Hrf,

Ur 'send me' to send U things is amongst one of the reasons we actually have this rule.

Please accept we like people to have open discussions here, not just to one person specific.

U sure may ask people to send U their email nrs or whatever other alike informations.

But for that purpose we have this special option here called PM, like Private Messages.

That way we can split up infos that was meanth for 1 person only or to issues that concerns more members out here.

And it helps to keep the general forum readable for them who do mind to be disturbed by non interesting issues.

I hope this was sufficient to have U change Ur ideas on what U just wrote.

Since just such stupid incident should not be a reason to get angry about, while it's sometimes so simple to solve.

Gah! I dont send stuff. And i don't ask that people send stuff to me.
I gathered tons of ZIP files and There's no point in hogging them.
So I SHARE them.
Your post is very difficult to understand. I'm not quite sure what you are saying.
I know there are discussions on NF. I take part in discussions when I have time.
I started this thread to help people directly.
I cannot post all the info I have as I do not have 130MB of webspace.

I cannot explain more simply than this:
Everything I have to offer is availble to everybody.
I cannot share all stuff to all people at the same time.

Anybody can add a post asking for anything I have.
I cannot do better than that.

Hello, i'm just a curious of mobile moding, but there is one thing that has always bothered me in my nokia 3310, the fact that everytime you remove the battery the clock resets.

I was wondering if there was a way that we could bipass this problem, by installing a small battery for the clock.

If you think that that is possible and can give me some info i can chew on i'd be really thankfull, and i'd give it a try at modding the dam thing =D

Thank you for your help, and thanks to all the people making this forums possible, take care

Not where I would have posted, but ok...
It is technically possible, as 8210 etc have a backup battery, but I think the amount of hardware modding would make this mod close to impossible...
Good thinking :) , But I dont think its going to happen...

Hi there.

Please I need the antenna switch connection diagram (to remove the antenna switch and replace it with new wire tracks) for the 5210/8210. I have checked all my repair manuals and none have the pin connections to remove the switch and replace with wire. Thank you. [email protected]
