Could you tell me a program that can be used to make a full backup from nokia phones. And how to use(range of backups).

You can use Dejan software or a windows based software such as Rolis v4.77.
I hope you have it, if not let me know.

I am attaching the MCU&PPM&EEPROM addresses file. Read it to check your phone version and the addresses for it.

Make sure you back up your phone properly and dont write to EEPROM area as new phones such as the 8210 have EEPROM in flash and if you overwrite this area, you will damage/kill it. After that, it is very hard to recover and sometimes you cant recover.

Also, check the PPM version of your phone before flashing 'NEW FULL FLASH FILE'. You can download B-Phreaks Logger version 1.6 from their website which will till you the PPM type you have on your phone.

If you flashing your phone to a new version, you have to calculate FAID. But thats NOT free......YET!!!

When you flash the phone to a different version or add a different language to the PPM (Post programmable memory), change the IMEI or basically bodge the phone - all the checksums become out of line / knackered or however you wanna put it. Only authorised people, in this case *SuPoSeDly* Nokia Engineers (nokia centre for instance) have the permission to fix the phone. They have all specialised hardware that do this for them. When fixing the phone, it requires that the Flash Authoruity ID be given to the phone so that it can verify the person fixing it is authorised to do this. No FAID, phone find no network and reset every 20-30 secs. The FAID is (in the case of Nokia themself) calculated inside the hardware that they have, so every time THEY fix a phone the phone knows that it is legitimate. Some people know how to calculate this FAID and sell a service where you use their software to get info about your phone which is saved into a file. You send it to them and they calculate a "log" which is sent to you after payment. Use their soft. to upload the "log" to the phone (basically send the FAID to phone) and voila your NMP is all working.

This is interesting. I have a 6210 too, and I understand that it emulates EPROM in flash too. So if I backup and restore it, do I use the full range of will dat kill my phone on restore?

I'm about to flash my Dutch 3.04 Telfort version, so any tips would be usefull.

Hi Mosez!!

How are you? With a 6210, the latest version I am aware of is 5.27.

1). So. Before you flash your 6210 mobile phone with 5.27 firmware, backup ur EEPROM area. The address range for that is 00540000 to 005FFFF. This is step is important if you messup ur phone. So make sure u backup the EEPROM.You can this VERY EASILY by using Rolis 4.77 between those ranges i have said. Save the backup.

2). Then, find out which PPM you have in your 6210 already installed.....A, B, C etc etc. You can find this out by using B-Phreaks Logger v1.6. Download it from http://www.b-phreaks.co.uk/

3). Then, once u got all this info, u r ready to flash the phone. Get the MCU file with chosen PPM pacakge (language choice is upto u).

4). Connect the phone using Dejan Flasher Cable and open Rolis 4.77 again. Select the right type of phone from drop down liston the right Press 'Write', load the Full new flash and away it goes.

5). Once its finished, you can check to see if phone comes on or not.

6) Now, if the phone comes ON, then its OK. Press *#0000* on the phone keypad and it will you the version on your phone. Should be V5.27. If you try to use your SIM inside now, it WONT work. You will get no signal and it will reset every 20-30 secs.

7) Before you can use your SIM inside you need to calculate FAID. This is not free. You have to pay for it. B-Phreaks offers this service. Check on their site.

8) So to overcome this problem, you need to send the log to them after u have read it from B-Phreaks Logger v1.6 and when you get the calculated log, you can update your EEPROM. (See B-Phreaks Site)

9). Now the phone should work with ur SIM. And, if you want to unlock it, u can use many unlockers available like Dejan, Rolis or Koci.
