can anyone determine what is wrong with my 3330, when you switch it on it looks like every other line (horizontal) is missing from the display, on closer inspection you can see that the elements which are missing are not active at all.

when the phone switches on (as with every other 3330/10) the screen goes black, then clear, then battery bar, then nokia logo (or insert simcard). at the point where the screen goes clear, then you can still see that the screen is on, but not displaying owt, you can see at this point that every other line is still missing.

IT IS NOT THE LCD, I have checked this already with a brand new one and with a second hand one, the one from this phone works in other phones too.

someone help PLEASE!!!!!

Dave

P.s oh yea the phone was very slightly water damaged, and I have seen this fault with another 3330 too.

Ive seen this problem a few times and the only way that seems to cure it is to fit a NON GENUINE LCD to the phone, cant be 100% that will cure your fault but it fixed the ones i had (tried genuine screens and same fault) dont know why though.....

have you tried to clean the screen contact pads with an eraser?

Try full flash (MCU+PPM+EEPROM) from a working 3330, I had this one once and I think that was the fix, the only other was is to take a 3210 screen and replace the glass part in the 3330 with the 3210 one, it works but goes dark in some of the games.

Try soaking/submerging the board (not the screen) in Turpentine or metholayted Spirits for 15 mins, don't forget to remove the RF shields, then clean with warm water and washing up liquid with a toothbrush, scrub gently but with enough force to remove the corrosion. Then rinse under cold tap for 10-15 secs, pat with towel to dry heavy water and then dry with a hairdryer. Board is completely dry when it gets really hot! Replace RF Shields and try it out! Trust me on this! Great results with most water damaged phones!;)

tried flashing, no luck, defineately a hardware fault.

I will try soaking the pcb in isapropanol alcohol tonight when I have time, that stuff usualy loosens all the crap from the board.

Thanx, Dave.
