I have aquired a new special code for the nokia dct4 handsets which seems to be some form of eeprom reset/repair, but a word of warning, use it only ONCE, or it will break your phone. and I aint found a way to repair the problem.
This was a supposed way to reset the security code but I think it resets all the phone defaults as it seems to remove logo's etc.
switch on phone, with sim,
phone asks for security code,
(follow carefully now!) type 55544, but do NOT press ok,
instead press the RED hang up button, then remove the batt and re-boot. it will ask for security code again, this time it should be 12345. if you use it again, the phone will hang and re-boot automatically every time the security code is entered.
I think my phone may need re-flashing, allthough I dont have a DCT4 flasher.
REMEMBER, ONLY ONCE!

It doesn't sound like it should work. Sounds more like all those free sms tricks.
Can someone confirm that it works/don't work?

as far as i know our imagination sometimes brings us to some theoretical principles of an spagetti incident. i dont think nokia would put something like that or maybe its a bug or a bug on your phone anyway good luck on your exploring and hope you'll come up to something.
anywhere knows the price for a NEONODE N1 and where to buy?
sometimes i hate Nokia!

I promise you nay, I IMPLORE you, it works, it came from a nokia engineer.
please try it next time you get a secuity coded phone, its no joke. and like I said only use it once, it did something to an 83 the second time and I had to re-unlock it to make it work again.
I'm a veteran of this site and I dont lie, I'm sure a few people will vouch for me, NDI? perhaps?

Why won't you try it on your 6510?
If it is the security code it resets, you could just change the security code to 11111, than put on "phone security", than do your trick, and see what happens if you press 12345.
If it don't work, you just press 11111.

well like I said I'd tryed it on a barred 8310 so I was not bothered what happened to it, my 6510 may still be in waranty but I do not want to chance breaking it.
I set the code to 54321 and restarted the phone, it asked for the code so I tryed 12345 just to check, it didnt work, as expected. so then I pressed 55544 and the red hang up button, nothing happened, so then I pressed ok and it said wrong code. I thought it hadnt worked but when I swithched the phone off and on again it asked for the code. I punched in 54321 and surprise surprise it responded with wrong code. then I tried 12345, et viola, it worked!
I couldnt belive this so I tried it again, this time when I switched it on it asked for the code, and I put in 55544 (red) but it just went 'click', lights went out, screen cleared and then ONLY the screen came on asking for security code, when I pressed the code in the lights came on but it would not load up, just kept reseting. I had to repeatedly try to unlock it to get it going again.
Dave.
