is there any way of finding out what the puk code is for a sim card, without haveing to ring the mobile network.

yes,when they alreagy give you the PUK when you buy the simcard.

Just call ur service provider, they will give it to u.

there should be only 1 PUK1 and 1 PUK2 for each simcard.
how can it be different every time u ask.

Both Vodafone and Cellnet (BT, O2, call it what you want) traditionally supplied a different PUK code each time you called them. This however, is going back to the time when Orange was a fruit and T-Mobile was nothing more than a Yorkshire phrase.

I'm not sure whether they do this now or not because I no longer deal direct with our customers, although I would expect not.

Well, clearly they could, and they were!

I suggest that the SP were able to reprogram the PUK. You have to consider that, at the time I am talking about, first generation sim cards were in use (5 volt technology).

I cant however, comment on whether the PUK can be changed by the network on the latest 3v sims. I will try and make the time to read the above mentioned thread though.:)
