I am still a flashing newbie so be gentle with me :)

I am using PPMEDIT 1a (coz i dunno where to get an update)
so I make the mods, update the checksums and save the fls file, open kok and flah it to my phone

when thre flash is complete I switch phone on to update FAID, the phone lights up but shows nothing on screen

why is this and how do i get my customized flash into my phone sucessfully ?

Try to restore full factory settings before updating FAID. There is a great possibility that phone will be back to normal again...

I will give it a try later, how do i re ser to factory settings if i cant see the screen?

No it seems that you didn't understand. I meant tat you have to restore Full Factory Settings by using the appropriate program (e.g Rolis tool or Nokia tool) and your MBUS cable...

no i knew what you ment it just i had re-flashed the standard software to my phone

I just flashed my modified file and tried to re-set factory settings afterwards using noktool 1.9 but the software wasnt detecting my phone :(

any other suggestions?

Use it in win98 not XP. F/MBUS does not work in win32...

I am running Windows 2000 pro, I have used f/mbus ok before.....

maybe your modified flash
has error, try to check it... before flashing

kill checks beforehand using g3n0lite

sounds to me like some dodgy shit in the flash messing up some checks, often happens after modding flashes

once killed you only need to update FAID ONCE and then each flash it works fine

Plus also ppmedit 1a the cracked one some people have noticed it sometimes has undue effect on a flash, i havent had any probs other than a few crashes but well just thaught i'd say
