Hi people, Could do with some advice on a slight problem i have and not sure what to do. I was the proud owner of a nokia 7650 which was just over a month old, for some reason this phone has started generating a fault on start up (SYSTEM ERROR). I think this fault may have something to do with wildskinz being installed on my phone which started playing up so i deleted it. Anyway got in touch with O2 who i have a contract with and was told that my 28 day warranty was over and that i had to visit a nokia service centre. Upon visiting the centre in Kings Lynn i was told that the screws holding the phone together could not be removed so therefore a repair could not be made. I was also informed that this would void the warranty on my phone and that there was nothing he could do other then to give me the address to send my phone to nokia who would also state the same thing. It turned out that my stupid brother who had borrowed the phone had decided to mark it with alpha dot security and the glue resin was in the bloody screw heads blocking them. So now i have a nokia 7650 that can not be opened to fix that may now have no warranty. I have now come to the conclusion that my brother needs a bloody good kicking in and that i need a new phone. Doe's anyone know of a phone shop who can fix my 7650 or am i gonna have to learn from a stupid mistake and have to buy another one? Feels a waste of a phone especially as the little screws can be removed by other means and the software fixed but im not sure if a nokia service centre will do the work or if there is a private phone shop that can do these kind of repairs. Now if the worst comes to the worst and my phone is fcuked doe's any one have some information as to when the nokia 3650 is to be released in the uk? Have seen some of the phones about but not sure if there for sale in this country yet. If they are available here do you guys know where the best deals are to be had? Can only say that i am one pissed off puppy at the minute and that your help would be kindly appreciated. Many thanks people. Phill:mad:

Sorry mate but someone is talking Bollcoks here, if's only a matter of picking the glue out and then removing the screw, but this is nokia all over, not a stright forward job and to much like hardwork for them, so it's far easyer for them to say it has void the warranty then try and do it for themself's.
Any way have you tried a reset (format) on the phone to clear an of the data that has been put on the phone since you got it. Read HERE (http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/support/directory/viewsupport.php?id=42) for info about formating the unit.

Hi, Thank you for the reply. I have tried to pick out the glue myself and am having no luck at all. Turns out the stuff alpha dot use to stick the little dots is glue resin and is very sticky sh#t. Have tried to reset the phone using the information you have supplied me but the sustem error stops me from entering any numbers and to make matters worse i had a pin that had to be typed in when phone was started and now the bloody phone for some reason has locked itself. AAARRRGGGGHHH :(

OK the only way to fix this is to take to a shop, now I don't know of any in your area but I know a few round by me, where I can get this done for you but have no idea of price, but you will be looking at around £50 by the time you add your P+P. Short of that I will have the stuff next month to sort this out, I would have had it this month but just brought a Hotwork station, so my funds have all but gone.

Sorry to carry this on but this is all that nokia have to do to fix your problem, once you have read it tell me where there have to take any screws out.
FULL MEMORY (MCU SW 3.12) -> FORMATTING USER DATA WITH FLS-4S
In some cases (when phone's is MCU SW 3.12) the phone might get completely stuck, if the memory has become too full. One way to recover the phone from this state is to make user data area format. I.e. all user-generated data will be erased from the phone.
In these cases the customer should be informed that, during formatting the user data area, all user-generated data would disappear from the phone.
Procedure:
First try to update newest SW into the phone (Currently 03-Feb-03, SW version is 4.39). If this is not successful, try to format user data area. Procedure is as follows:
1. Connect FLS-4S and FLA-21 with cables as follows:
In this connection FLA-21 supply voltage is approx. 7.0 volts from ACP-8* charger instead of 4.0 volts from FLS-4S. Electronics inside FLA-21 keep the supply voltage to phone at the normal 4 volts, but internal logic inside FLA-21 puts the phone into special mode called 'local' where only minimum set of drivers is booted up. In this local mode user area format is possible.
2. Start Phoenix SW
3. Scan product with File -> Scan product. You should see on PC screen that phone is now in Local mode. Also the LED in FLA-21 should be green.
4. It might take some time to get phone to state where user area format is possible, so wait 5 minutes (by leaving the device in FLA-21 adapter) before going to step 5.
5. Now format user data area. Choose the menu as shown below, answer 'yes' to all questions.
6. When all user generated data is removed from the phone, you get the following message:
NOTE: If there are problems, leave the phone in FLA-21 adapter for 5 minutes and try again from step 5 (user area format).
7. You can now detach phone from FLA-21 and boot it up. It should look exactly the way you take it from sales package.

Thanks for the reply lonegunman, When i handed the phone over to the assistant in the service centre he disappeared round the corner so there is no telling what he actually tried to do. When the phone was handed back he said there was nothing he could do as he could not get access to the inside of the phone. He also mentioned that the glue resin may have damaged the circuit board although i find this very unlikely as the alpha dots were put in some time ago and the phone has been working ok since. Its a shame i can not print out your insructions and show the person how its done as i get very limited time off work but i would be interested in getting the phone sorted out at the shop you know. The price of approx £50 is no problem considering a new phone is close to £200. Would be nice if i could get the phone back to its original condition minus the glue in screws so that my warranty is still valid. If you could help me out lonegunman i would be most appreciated. Thanking you kindly.
