need help to reset Security code on 8290

Hi, ANy one can help to unlock or reset the security of Nokia8290? I have this model for a while but then I forgot the security code ( i changed it when I frist got it ).
Do I need to have a newwork provider in order to be able to reset it?
I have terminated teh service since then.
Please help, any advice would be appreciated.

you can read security code using nokiatool or logomanager..but you should have at least datacable..or Irda in your computer..to be able to read codes

Ok. Thank you so much, I just bought a data cable from Ebay.
Now my next question is:
Which software do I need: rolis v1.8 or Eeprom Tools v3.1?
What is teh difference between these 2 program?
Am I able to change logo ( I hate teh voice stream logo displays every time I turn on the phone)

use noktool by rolis..attach your cable..then power on the phone..press autosetup(phone must be aon when pressing autosetup0..then press read phone..then the codes will show...gud luck.

Hi, ANy one help please
I coneected teh data cable to the serial port and it seemed to me that I can't power my phone if I connect the dongle to the back of the phone .
Did I do it wrong?
Can any one tell me hot exactly to connect it properly.

You need to put the battery into the data cable. There should a part where you slot the battery in.

Yes, I got it finally but when I open the program try to unlock it, it keep displying "phone not connected", what's wrong?
I tried rolis 1.8 and dct3 and eeprom and non seem working

That happens either cos the cable is not connected properly or because you need to update faid.

I take it you havent flashed the phone, so try disconnecting from the pc and from the phone, reconnect it to pc, then the phone, turn fone on and try again. Should work, if still not working make sure your com port is not being used with a shared IRQ's in device manager. Also try restarting ur PC.

Best program to use to unlock is EEPROM TOOLS 3, Nokia Tool, wont unlock very well if at all.

Click the Padlock, the when it finishes click the Magnifying Glass.

I tried it so many times, it just didn't work , it keep saying phone not connect, and I check every thing is correctly connected, also I switched it back and forth between "F" and "M"mode. it didn't work either, anyone can think of what might cause it?
or anyone can unlock it for me.
