hi,
im just wondering is there anywhere i can read on this whole technical jargon, im familure with it all, but id like to get a more DETAILED description on the whole area of the FAID , MCU, PPM languages, and checksums etc...

is there any sites or even books (i doubt) on the subject.

not much to know really..

mcu is Micro/Master Control Unit and is the actual software program of the phone.

ppm is the Post Programmable Memory and can be seen as the data which the MCU is calling.
different sets of data (ie languages, T9 dictionary, operator name lists) are needed in different parts of the world, thats why there are different ppm "packs".

FAId is flash authority Id and is a kind of checksum, you can find info on that in nfree forums- also source for calculating faid is in the download link (top of the page)

checksums are used to check if the phones software is in a valid state. you can find a doc with info on different Nokia checksums here (http://www.nokia-unlocking.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/resource/reference/checksuminfo.txt)
