Under windows XP you can't unlock, you have to install and Windows 98 for unlocking.

Thanks

but the IBM laptop would not unlock even when Win98 was installed. I have tried changing port settings in bios. are there any software that will use the LPT port and win 98 but without usings a box. and not NU2000

Go back to your bios settings and check the port adress is set to 378 to 37F and is not set to 278 to 27F.
Although most things are happy to recognise Lpt1 with the latter adress most unlocking software looks at the port address.
But maybee you have already tried this??
Anyway thats all I can think of.
hope this is of help

For anyone else using laptops: I noticed that if my laptop isn't plugged in (ie just working of the battery) I cant flash or do anything else, but works fine when powered!
