Hi out there,
My Alcatel 30X ant totally smashed and of no use... no chance to find a new replacement over here and even if I'd get one it may not fit back cover unit gap as it has also been forced... I wonder if there is any site, schema or whatever explaining how to make a mobile ant by oneself or may I try and fit a mere wire or iron bit just being in touch with internal metallic ant plate (I am afraid not but just asking...) ?

Any help/ideas to sort this matter out asap ?
Thanks a lot mates.
Cheers
Otletacla

Hi mate,

making your own antenna for a gsm phone is certainly possible, with the frequencies used ie: 900 & 1800MHz optimum lengths of wire for an antenna would be 8.4cm or 16.7cm.

I would use an enamelled wire as used for winding coils which is available from any electronic outlet.

caution should be taken when handling any live rf components as rf burns are painful, for more info visit this site: <http://www.mobileworld.org/info_antenna.html> or look for other sites with more info.

Best option though would be to search the web for a replacement part and have it sent to you by mail order.

Regards :)
