6610 connection to Laptop

hallo guys
I need some help, hope some1 can help me out
i've bought an old laptop (IBM 760XL) and there is win 98 installed
but afther i installed PC suite and i connect my phone it doesn't do anything, it doen'st reconize my phone at all
i enabled the infra red option on the phone
i checked the infra red option in bios
must i install a special driver to reconice it or something/?
any1 can help me with this???

Hi d4v1d (David?),

There are a few things that need to be correct even before anything will work.

Here's a short checklist:

1. Bios (if applicable) has driver ON
2. The appropriate IBM Windows 98 driver for the IrDA installed.
(this will make available the IrDA and give virtual ports).
Without this you're dead in the water.

At this point you can use hyperterminal and/or setup the phone
as a basic 9600 modem on the new COM port.

3. Nokia data suite. (I prefer version 4.5.)
Now for the fun bit. This will give you picture/tone and other tools like connecting to outlook and doing the vCard / contacts things!.
