My 3310 got water damaged and now keypad wont worked. Have tried cleaning pcb in meths and blow drying the n310 light keypad interface with no luck. The 1 and 2 and down keys work fine. the up key and 3 key make the lights come on but no function and rest of keys do nothing. If any1 has any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. thanks bob

I think you were on the right track!!! Submerge the board in the meths with the RF shields taken off, for 20 mins! After that take it out and run under a cold tap, then using a bowl full of water with washing up liquid scrub the board firmly but carefully with a tooth brush! Go in all directions! You should scrub on both sides for a total of about 10 mins! Run under tap again thoroughly, and using a hair dryer, set it to the lowest blow mode, but highest heat! slowly run the air over the board twice each side! when thats done, lie the hardryer down and lie the board down flat with the RF shield side up! Allow the hot air to blow OVER the board not directly at it for a further 7-8mins! Allow to cool for 15mins and try it in the phone! Don't forget to replace the RF Shields if it works!!!;)

Sadly, I think your right!!! The only way to get her up and running now is to start replacing bits on the board!!! The trick with water damage is to take the battery out ASAP, water is not bad for your phone, but it doesn't mix with electricity!!! Salvage what you can out of it though!!! You can still use: Battery, LCD, Power block, Shell, Sim connector, vibra, Ringer, Battery connector etc.!!!;)

Hi chunkhead, ive been told your an expert.
My friend gave me his 3310 and told me it has water damage. It was dropped in the snow about a year ago, and a couple months later the 1 keypad button only started to work when you press it really hard, whilst the * button doesn't work at all. The screen also has a blank line running through the centre of it horizontally.
Any ideas how to fix it please?
Ive read ur water damage solution method, but haven't tried it yet. my problem seems similar to the one previously mentioned in this thread with the keypad not working properly.
Thanks.

Yeah, try the method above! But leave it in overnight! You'll most likely get some good results as from what I gather, the phone is actually working!!! Also clean the connectors on the LCD, if still no joy you can put up with it, or buy a new one!!!;)

The LCD connectors are gold pins on the screen it's self! There are 8 of them, and you can clean them with a cotton bud and some vcr cleaned or isopropenol!!!;)

Hi chunkhead, would cleaning with metho do the job or would the vcr cleaner/isopropenol be better to fix the lcd?

thanks.

Meths will do it, but I use the VCR cleaner because it dries almost instantainously! With regards to the screen, if the line doesn't come back, you can either put up with it, or replace it! The screens are pretty cheap!!!;)
