I heard you can't remotely unlock 7210 for Fido (Microcell in Canada). If it is possible, it will be greatly appreciated.

IMEI: 350893309014292
Microcell: 30237
Model: Nokia 7210

I think Fido might have a different network code than Microcell even though it's under it.

never heard of it. but might be possible. fido IS microcell. its not 2 companies operating together. its just 2 names. microcell has no other cell phone service i am aware of. so if the network code isnt 302-370 then what the hell can it be. if you know PLEASE TELL me this would help so much.
thanks

well cityphone and simpro and fido. maybe they are just different names of the sae carrier in different parts of canada. which provinces to they operate?
i know fido does quebec , i think ontario.
what about the other 2, anyone know?

i just checked around, cant find anything linking fido to cityfone or Simpro, are you sure about this?

is it possible that FIDO does GSM and the others maybe only deal with other technologies?

if the reason why FIDO phones cant be remote unlocked it just cuz we're getting the MCC+MNC wrong then son-of-A! lets crack this ish

Simpro, Fido, and cityfone can't be unlocked remotely either. Fido is across Canada, I'm sure. And Simpro is in BC and AB, but I don't think there's anywhere else. And Cityfone, I saw them in BC and MB, not sure about other provinces. That's about all I know. But I am sure they're all under Microcell.

im sure theres some superSimple reason that we are missing as to why they cant be unlocked, otherwise, why the hell arent the other 100's of service providers not doing the same!
im like so sure that we have the MNC wrong

perhaps it's the simple reason that we'll never find out in unlocking fido phones
: )

All Microcell backbone provider's DCT4 phones are not unlockable remotely! New algorithm has been customised for them and unlocking can only be done by cable! I have experienced this on over 5 Fido Nokia 7210s!

Fido is 302-37 otherwise!

are you sure?
i tried with a 8390 and it didnt work either, i have nt tried any others expect that and a couple 7210's but 302-37 hasnt worked for me once. i have to add though, that i havent really tried it in too many circumstances

8390 is also DCT4!!! I am 100% positive Fido is 302-37 and I am pretty sure the rest of the Microcell network is also!

yes i know 8390 is DCT-4 and im also sure that microcell is 302-37. what im saying is that its not only 7210 that have this algorithm change, as it seemed you were asserting. but now i see what you were tryign to say.
so i guess calbe is only way...

seansoft, you mentioned unlocking 7210's by cable. you have software that works on WinXP? I seem to find lot of win9x stuff which doesnt do me much good.
also, do you use dongle, or no need?
PM me if you want it private, thanks

Yes ALL Fido DCT4! An FBUS serial cable should do the trick but software wise I have seen alot of programs out on the net but personally I just bring my phones to a friend who is an expert here in the Toronto area for unlocking!

Whats the diff between FBUS/MBUS and how can i tell which one i have?
Im guessing by looking at which pins are present but does anyone have a schematic?
thanks
