Can somebody please help:
I used Logomanager to restore a phonebook backup from my 8310 to my 8850.
Now all that happens is that DURING a call my reception drops.
I have used my 8850 happily for over 6 months and I did this with logomanager yesterday and now my phone is now useless!
I am convinced this is not a hardware problem, as this started happening AS SOON as I restored the phone book.
I have used Rolis to recalculate FAID, restore factory defaults etc, but nothing is working.
Somebody PLEEEEASE HELP???????

I have been reading around this forum as well as others that when restoring the phone book using logomanager from other models of Nokia to your own can cause problems.
This is because extra information, other than phone numbers is copied to the destinattion phone.
Can somebody please help as my 8850 is now practically useless.
If somebody out there with a nokia 8850 and logomanager could be kind enough to save their backup (in logomagager go to Phone explorer, then right click on phone and choose save to backup file) and send me this I would be exteremly grateful.
Of course this would mean tempoarily deleting the phone numbers you have stored on your handset so you won't be sending all your numbers to me, just an empty phonebook. This is the only thing I can think of now that may work.
Can somebody please help?

Guys can anyone tell me what is contained beyond the flash address of 400000 on an 8850? Is it the phone book and security code etc?
If I get a backup of somebody's 8850 from 200000 to 600000 (not 20000 to 400000) wont this be a COMPLETELY full backup? Then flash this back to my phone and recalculate FAID. Thsi will mean I'll have their phone book contacts flashed to my phone as well?
Why don't you do a full flash. full flash files can be found the web for free.
Make sure you use 8850 full flash

Gee:
Thanks for the reply.
But I've already tried this. I've downloaded v5.31 from Clubwolf, and upgraded software from 5.29 to 5.31, recalculated FAID. Phone worked OK for about an hour then reception started going again.
Basically, just before a call connects, or during a call, I hear 3 beeps then the call drops.
I am so pisssed off cos I caused this problem myself by using logomanager to copy the phonebook from my 8310.

You've flashed a MCU+PPM flash. Now, try to flash a virgin eeprom. It should work. ;)

abuissa;
I've downloaded a ZIP file called all virgin eeprom. In there is a file called:
8850 virgin eeprom 003D0000.fls
Am I right in thinking this is the file I need?
How do I flash this file to my 8850? Rolis 4.78? Do I need to recalcluate FAID after?
Oh... and one more thing.... Abuissa do you know how I managed to mess my phone up? Why did this happen?

That's the right file. Use any flasher program and flash it starting at adress 003D0000.
After flashing you need to correct IMEI and recalculate FAID.

I think you've answered to your question already:

Abuissa, thanks so much for the help.
I did exactly as you said and flashed the virgin eeprom, changed the IMEI from ?????? to my real IMEI and then recalculated FAID.
SAME PROBLEM!
I don't believe it... I completely refuse to believ me using logomanager and doing what I did has caused a hardware fault becuase I have been using my 8850 in the same environment (same battery, charger etc) for months now and this problem started immediately after using logomanager.
Where is the phone book stored on an 8850? After flash address 4000000?

Phone book is stored in the eeprom area of the phone and yes you have a hardware fault, like most things it can happen at any time, aslo check the ariel as well make sure that is on and making a good contact.

Well I'm certain this was not a hardware problem. If it is a hardware problem, it has been caused by logomanager (this hardly makes sense, yes I know).
I've read about logomanager doing this to phones in other places.
Anyway, I've flashed v5.28 (ie downgraded firmware), virgin eeprom and it has been working ok since last night. Won't hold my breath though.

Nop, gone again.
Was ok till I received a call this morning, now signal goes and comes back every few mins.
I fucking hate Nokias. First the elastometer screen problems and now this. You don't see Ericssons or Motorola phones having recurring problems like these.
Pity nokia make the best phones!

So it must be a hardware problem as you have changed all the soft over to new stuff and you still have the same problem.

Yeh I know, I've flashed every part of the phone (MCU, PPM and EEPROM) and still the problem persists. Is there any other part of the phone I can flash/repair?
If not, what do u reckon the hardware fault is?
Cheers

Cant flash anymore as you as flashed all you can, as for fixing look around for the 8210's which have the same problems as the fix is more or less the same (ie reheat/reflow).

Hi,
I'm taking a wild guess here and anyone feel free to correct me :D but i think that your phone might have been blacklisted.
I can't recall where i read it but i think that the three beeps issue is due to network barring.
Try reading about this subject around.

I've just finish flashing an 8210 and have had numerous problems. I flashed various different eeproms (all for 8210) until I got a GOOD one. Then, voila, it worked.
