8310 - ????

is it possible to down grade or upgrade an 8310 to another model in the nokia range? i see upgrading being done all over but i have not seen any thing for this phone type

Hello :)
The 8310 is a buggy phone. Yet you can DOWNgrade it to get a better one! You need one piece of hardware. Go to a Nokia shop and buy a LCD for a 6510. Put it in the phone, and then flash it with 6510-software which can surely be found in the forum, and voila, you got a 6510. It's a lower model number, but got better features:
Higher resolution display
More stable OS, doesn't always hang or reset
Can send game's highscores to club Nokia via WAP
Nicer games! (due to better graphic...)
Wallet function, allows to store credit card #'s etc to use by WAP
Better calendar (also due to graphic)
etc.....
Also it's got FM radio, same as the 8310, so you won't lose that. Another downgrade possible (without the need to change LCD) is to 6500, but it's software is too similar to the 8310 and no advantage known, except the support for an active flip.
If you go fo0r the 6510 option, my own experience says that the software version 4.06 is the most stable... prove me wrong :)
