This is great man.
I did make 5 pieces until now and all with no problem.
Only that if you try with eeprom tools and make full factory reset
You will lose the extra things,like auto lock keybord and pictures,timed profiles.In that case you need to upload again mcu ppm+eeprom from another nokia 3310 and flash again 3315 full flash.I did make it with Nk_calc F1 F2 F3 and it is 10000000 %

Now 100% including sound.

Sound Names are missing however in ppm chunk.

1: I first set own imei in nFree 1.2 and corrrected 2 eeprom checksums.

2: Flashed in kNok22. (lpt cable)

3: Plugged now to com cable, still in kNok.
Used Set Imei to original.
Used Set Quick Faid.
Reset SPLocks.

Reentered battery and...

Now have:
- An Editor for editing logo's in the phone!
- An auto keypad lockoff with timer.
- Maybe more, don't know?

And a very annoying security number each time I reboot. (12345)
(can this be disactivated somehow?)

Yep, I can't find how to put this security function off.

Logo section is is very new to me.
I can only do 8 logos now in logomanager, it still has 14.
3315 has an editor now so U can also draw little smiley things U can edit, called 'Clip-Art'.
These are a group of 8 seperate selectable smiley pics (about 16x16) which are displayed as picture nr 8.


For the Die harders:
I also tested Flash data Corrections of both MCU & PPM.
Tested changing some text strings in ppm text and bitmap in mcu with NokHexPr6.

Both have full functioning results.
Maybe now modificating/ adding Dutch language pack and T9.

Me was told about new 3310-547 from Brads site.

This version shoud have same fascillities as the 3315.
Only it comes in more languages. (multiple language packs available)

And U also need the use the Eeprom area from the 3315 to have the additional functions opened.

I did try today some things:
First i did upload a mcu ppm of 3315 at a 3310 and rezults ok but no extra settings.
I upload a 3315 eeprom and rezults the same things {no extra settings}
I think that 3315 is a 3310 with some extra on it.But where are this extra settings?In mcu ppm or eeprom?And why if we make full reset settings that disepear???
Anyway now is version 547 at Brad site {thanks to Nokdoc for the information} with different linguages on it and we don't need to modify the linguage.
I did test the flashes at Brad site i think that are rollis flashes butWhen i verify checksum with Rollis 478 i see this

I did try with Rolis to upload mcu and ppm from Brad site
Load Mcu Load ppm Flash it to phone the phone power on
and a few seconds later goes contact service that means we need to correct mcu checksum,so i did read the full flash with Rolis 478 and when i flash it the program say Want to correct the mcu.I push ok and flash it.
Now the phone is ok but no network
So are that files really wintesla files?
How work that Dejan soft to convert wintesla to flash files?

Explanation how to make:
1. convert the file like this: (extract MCU and PPM files to same folder)
a) go to ms dos prompt and first make this:
wt2dejan mcufile ppmfile
and then:
wt2dejan ppm file
b) now you have 2 fls files MCU 20000000 and PPM 3400000
2. still in dos prompt type:
copy /b mcufile+ppmfile
yes
3. now u have 1.81 mb (1900544 bytes)
4. just flash it to the phone with rolis 4.78
5. now flash the 3315 eeprom from nokdoc start 3D0000
6. Use rolis 1.7b to change IMEI,power OFF the phone and back ON
7. Update FAID and power OFF the phone AND BACK ON.....
VOILA...you have 3315 phone with your language in it and with latest version of SW....

Ok i did put the files in c:\ wintesla mcu and ppm

I did make wt2dejan mcufile ppmfile in same directory was created a mcufile{flash} with start adress on it.00200000
wt2dejan ppmfile and was created a ppm file with adresss 00340000.
I did make copy /b mcu+ppm but the program didn't conect the flash files together it did conect the wintesla files together.
And if i delete the 2 wintesla files and leave only the flash files and make copy /b mcuflash+ppmflash the program say
c:\>copy /b mcu+ppm
acess denied -c:.
0 files copied
like i don't have any files named this way in that directory:confused:
Anyone tried?
I will try to flash it with start adres 200000 the mcu and 340000 the ppm flash i don't think that need to conect it together

Collect these files in 1 directory:
1. wt2dejan.exe (convert tool)
2. nhm5ny05.470 (mcu)
3. nhm5ny05.47* (* is Ur ppm pack number A B, C...)
4. 3315_0545_Epr.fls (3315 eeprom)

for this demo, replace the * always with the pack letter U choose, like A,B,C...:

1st type this command line.
- wt2dejan nhm5ny05.470 nhm5ny05.47*
The tool now creates a file nhm5ny05_MCU_00200000.fls, The MCU (1310720 bytes)

Now type this command line.
- wt2dejan nhm5ny05.47* (*= Ur packnr A,B,C...)
The tool now creates a file nhm5ny05_PPM_*_00340000.fls, The PPM (589824 bytes)

Because they are Longnames we must rename first before we can join them together.

Do this with commands:
- ren nhm5ny05_MCU_00200000.fls mcu.fls
and
- ren nhm5ny05_PPM_*_00340000.fls ppm.fls
and
- ren 3315_0545_Epr.fls epr.fls

now we can join them with command:
- copy mcu.fls + ppm.fls + epr.fls 3310-547*.fls

This must end up with a file 3310-547*.fls of 2097152 bytes

Now all U need is flash it and use kNok to correct imei to Urs, and Quick set Faid.
(maybe SP Lock too)

Ok here is the steps how you can do it:
Download from Brad site mcu and ppm of your choice
Start wt2dejan and convert the files to flash files.
You will have mcu 00200000 and ppm 00340000
Flash the mcu at 00200000 and ppm at 00340000 start
Nk_calc and F1 F2 F3
The phone will restart and smile will register to the network
and with names at ringtones with your prefer. language.

Wintelsa files can be converted with Knok or flashed straight with Rolis 4.77 - you have to open the files seperately with the MCU and PPM open options.

In the case of activating the new features on the new 3310 5.47 flash, perhaps Nokia Profile will come out to activate them if a feactory reset it made on the phone???

Constant security code request.... try using Nokia Profile to restore it, its a software reset and didnt lose the new features for me. Or use 12345 with restore defaults in the settings menu...

I just read somewhere that old eeprom can be maintained.

Something to do with Bit 30 of the product profile bits.
These profile bits can be set in pc locals. (download area)

I didn't test myself, but all seems some logical to me.
For me all these options must only be matter of some bit settings but I no got enough info on that.

As for my 3310-547b, all of the functions work properly.

the mcu for 3310 v5.47 from dd69 & brad is only 1216kb in size (dejan v1.00b format) assuming that the ppm is correct in size (576kb), where did the 64kb went? considering that many posted here that they successfuly upgraded using the same files, how did you do it?

i finally got frustrated finding the solution, i simply flashed my 3310 with a full flash from a 3315 v5.45 and fixed using rolis. it worked but i would still like to know how to upgraded to v5.47 of a 3310.

flash v45.45 with knok. then with konk you convert these mcu and ppm from wintesla to fls(if he asks to another file say no). then flash mcu in address 2000..., and then flash ppm at starting address 340... . that's all!

Use ROLIS to open the wintelsa flash files.

for phones it recognises, it will know the correct size.

a typical wintelsa MCU file is

nhm5_5.450 - notice the '0' ZERO at the end, this file is the MCU and is typically bigger thant the PPM files

a typical wintelsa PPM is

nhm5_5.45C - the firmware version and C to show pack C

load these files into the relevant MCU and PPM load buttons with 3310 selected in the drop down menu and you can flash the wintelsa files

wintelsa files are bigger than the normal flash files because of extra header information

load the MCU file for the same firmware in both wintelsa and normal flash into a hex editor and you can see this...

I use wt2dejanf as converter but to no avail. The mcu always ends up until 00330000 while the ppm starts at 00340000, where the heck is the 64kb (00330000-00340000)?

Does anybody successfully upgraded 3310-xxx to 3310-547 with a merge flash file (mcu+ppm) without flashing the mcu then ppm separately?

I downloaded the 547 MCU file and the 547 PPM B file from bRAds site which is further up in another post...

I opened ROLIS 4.77 and in the image i posted, i showed which buttons I used to load the separate files. when the two files have loaded in, the FLASH button at the right of these buttons becomes active and pressing it will flash your phone.

When completed, you have a working 3310 5.47 B phone after calculating the FAID with Knok of course.

If you want to have it as a 3315 then you need the 3315 EEPROM and flash that with Rolis. Select the Flash -> Write open the EEPROM and select the 3310 button to choose the correct EEPROM start Address (which i think is 003d0000 anyway) and then flash it.

Again calulate the FAID and this time change the IMEI (WITHOUT DOING A FACTORY RESET)

To stop the constant security code popup, use NOKIA PROFILE TO RESET IT. NOKIA PROFILE __DID NOT__ lose the new features that the 3315 provides for me anyway. doing a reset with knok or eeprom tools did. DO NOT CHANGE THE IMEI WITH EEPROM TOOLS AS IT WILL DO A FACTORY RESET.

No Signal? have you updated the Flash Authority Id (FAID)? Or does it reset after a few seconds?

The "Security Code Bug" can be removed by going to settings -> security settings -> Phone security -> Off

Coz eventhough it says its off but when you turn on the phone and it still asks for its just turn it off again. You can also do use the phone's restore factory settings.

Btw I've upgraded my 3310 -> 3315 v 5.47 and i've noticed that though some programs like EEPROM Tools by bphreaks, NokiaTool by Koci etc.. can remove the additional features

But

By using Nokiatools by ASM or simiular to set the UI settings, SMS data, etc.. or using Rolis Noktools is safe for restoring factory settings. It doesn't remove the additional features but just restores the original pict msgs/clipart/screen svrs, ringtones, top scores, logo, etc..

Also when updating the faid on UNMODIFIED MCU/PPM, you can either use Noktool1.7b by Rolis, Knok 22 (using Quick set Faid), Bphreaks EEPROM Tools 3.1 (or earlier versions) and Dejan's NK_CALC.

But If it is MODIFIED MCU/PPM, then you'll need a logger to calculate the FAID, you can use Bphreak's logger 1.1 up to v2.0 along with Tek's Faid Calculator, or use Koci Logger along with DavieB's Faid calculator, or do it the long way by using Faid Calculator Build By Mircea Vasiliu (2002) along with a FAID software to update the EEPROM.

Sometimes turning it OFF again will make it say "Code Error" like you have guessed the wrong security code... I much prefer to use Nokia Profile to do the reset there, for me, it didnt remove the new features.

flash the whole mcu+ppm+mcu with rolis using ie brads file selecting 3310
then dwithc phone on - CS - ok!
run noktool (rolis or jordi) then open locks! generate faid, cahnge imei!
ok!
now run nk_profile and resset settings!
u done!
no security settings problems, all working fine!

I just noticed something, it is not always applicable for modified ppms to be used with a separate faid calculator. they can also be faid updated by using bphreaks eeprom tool or nokitool by rolis.

Why? actually i'm figuring that out myself. coz earlier i added made my 3315 to have 70 (63+7 composed)ringtones then edited some texts and made them blink. Then after flashing, I updated the faid using eepromtool 3.1 but it resets every 5 sec or so, same with noktool1.7b and others. But when i used a logger (Koci and Bphreaks) with a separate faid calculators (DavieB's and Tek's), It now have its signal and is ok. Then just a while ago I played around with it updating the faid using eepromtools3.1 and noktool1.7b.. then i was surprised that it still have its signal and is working 100%...

Any ideas?

Very simple:
The checksumm used for calculating the faid aren't correct when u've modified the ppm / mcu! when u use eepromtools - it takes the wrong calculated checksumms and generates faid -> wrong faid! when u use it by log -> it calculates them itself and generates correct faid!

Earlier i was experimenting, after flashing modified ppm and next step is faid update:

1st try: Faid update to modified ppm using eepmtools3.1-> wrong faid (phone restarts)

But one thing, you mentioned making the text blink, can you tell me what you did to make them blink? I am assuming you added some ASCII code or something like for when you make sms blink, but what is the ASCII code if this is the case?

I posted this last April 16, 2002 on Gsmmagic.com on a Thread withe the subject of Send Flashing Msg From Fone.

You need a flasher cable, flasher software, mbus compatible cable, FAID calculator software, PPM manager, optional HEX editor and a textfile editor.

If your going to use your phone's flash, download your phone's MCU+PPM flash and save it to a file. Or just use another MCU+PPM.

Using PPM manager, open the flash your going to use click on Tools then Text Chunk then Export as two files then save it to a file

Using your text editor, look for the word you want to edit/change. If you want to make it blink just add \x01 before it . Example to make the word Call to blink just add \x01 so it will be \x01Call you can also add another \x01 to cancel the blink so that if you're going to change "Call" to "Call Call" and want to make the first "Call" blink but not second "Call" then it will be like this -> " \x01Call\x01 Call " making the first Call blink but not the second one You can also modify the characters in you're "Write Message" for example in the "*" all symbols are there like .'?! etc.. if you want, you can add the blink character and the "Enter/New Line" character too! just add \x01 (for blink) and \x0A for enter at the COMM part.

After doing the modifications, save the file then import it back to PPMmanager using Tools then Text Chunk then Import from text files then choose your file.

After import, click on Tools then click on Update All PPM CRC then save the flash

Using your Flasher software, flash the modified flash that you used back to your phone (you can flash PPM only if you like)

Then after flashing, Using your MBUS compatible cable with FAID calculator,compute the FAID using your modified MCU+PPM. you can use Bphreak's Logger with Tek's FAID Calculator or DavieB's Faid Calculator with Koci Logger or Knok

The 'invisible' = 0002

U can play with these things in program called Panu flash.
This can create strange sorts of messages in the outbox.

Reread the bytes U created there and U see the tricks that maybe can be used too in 16 bit text areas of mcu/ppm.

Note: the Nokia shows invisible characters as ' ' but still they are there.

Hello. I have tried this and can not get it to work, I tried on two 3310's, one worked fine but the other wont work.
It is V04.10 3310, even when I flash it with 3310 v5.47mcu+ppm it doesnt work right, it just reboots and keypad looks soon as it turns on. I use Knok22 to calc faid.
When I try flash 3315 full flash then mcu+ppm of 3310 back to it it still doesnt work.
It works as 3310 V04.10 when I flash the backup I made of it back to it though.

Any suggestions people?

If U flash a 3310-547 mcu to 20.0000 and a ppm to 34.0000 all U have to do in kNok is Quick Set Faid.
Then to have the new functions of this version activated set bit 30 in pclocals.

If those mcu & ppm were good versions then.

Mr. Visar, nice tip about 5210, it has much nicer ringtones as the 3310. (Tingle!)

Tried that, when I flash mcu from 200000 and ppm from 340000 then Quick Set Faid in Knok22 I get Contact Service ? ALso tried to update faid with nokia tool 3.03 and get same problem.
Could it be the mcu+ppm that Im trying to flash to phone? I got them from http://www.gsmunlock.sk/members/bRAd/ , but they work for other people. Or could it be the programs Im using? I cant use nk_calc because it gives 'Bad Connection' when I try F1/2/3.

Just tried using Rolis to load MCU and PPM then flash using Wintesla Files, then quick set faid with and reset sp lock with Knok22, turned on but never got any reception and just crashed, then tried select all in nokia tool 3.03 under special factory settings and done that, it got reception but still just crashed?

Then maybe U have to convert them from wintesla to dejan style first!
There is a tool called wt2dejan.exe which does it for U.

Explaination for converting was discussed here some earlier.

This should be the converted filesizes for flashing in knok.
mcu: 1310720
ppm: 589824

Tried that and it turned on, all was looking good then it crashed and now its restarting, I will try UI settings in nokia tool 3.03 and see if it helps.
Any more suggestions?



No luck with UI, just keeps restarting. I got no idea why its not working. The file sizes of the mcu and ppm after converted was as you said they should be.

That really should be all.
About other tools, I don't know.

Contact service= bad mcu or ppm flashed.
20sec. Reboot = faid not set correct.

When you say flash mcu to 20.0000 you mean that 20.0000 is the start address yes? And with ppm 34.0000 is start address?
Thats what I have been doing, maybe you could send me mcu and ppm that you have used yourself and works ?

Why you ask for mcu flash and ppm flash from NokDoc.
Just find a mcu flash of 3310 547 at Brad site and convert it with wt2dejan
Than start NokiaRollis and make open mcu open ppm flash it
Power on and will start to flash it.
It is very easy and you need to learn something so you have to try it.

hi evry1, im new to the whole upgrading phone thing! so id appreciate any help on upgrading the 3310 to 3315.

i have a parrallel cable for my nokia 3310 which i use to unlock phone. would that do?

i need step by step instructions on how 2 do it and what software and flash files 2 use. any1 willin 2 help? either reply 2 this or email me on [email protected]

I upgraded two 3310 to 3315, no probs. the winstela format is perfect, just loaded the mcu file and the ppm file in rolis 514 and flashed.

then went to menu, choose write, open 3315 eeprom, select 3310 button and flash eeprom.

openned noktool by rolis, changed imei, cleared sp locks and updated faid. about the security code problem, just change it through the phone menus and it corrects sec code checksums.

i read the phone in noktool and it's as good as new!

If someone loose the new feautures, just open PClocals, select product profile bits, and Set Bit 30 to 1! this bit enables/disables the new features! i did not tested with any version < 5.47!

hi there i need to locate some ppm language packs for the Nokia 3315 ver 4.47. If anybody can help, much appreciated in advance. Also anybody out there with modified ppm with all those extra ring tones and blink text, would much appreciate a post/location if you are willing to share. Please advise on steps if flashing modified ppms are different from the usual method.

Hi, to follow from before, I have read in previous posts that somebodys instructions to update your phone to a 3310-3315, they used a 3310 ppm language pack with a 3315 epprom...is that okay to do that to get more languages? does the 3310 software version have to match the 3315 i.e. 3310 ppm language pack b ver 5.47 and epprom from 3315 5.47.

get the wintesla 3310 5.47 files you can get from bRAds site, its somewhere in this post...

you need to MCU file and the PPM file of your choice.

flash these accross to get firmware version 3.47 in your 3310, then you need to add the 3315 features either with the 3315 eeprom posted above or using PC LOCALS to change the product profile code 30 from 0 to 1

the wintelsa files have a larger file size header, so they are slightly bigger than files read from the phone with Rolis etc.

Flashing RAW WINTELSA files will corrupt the phone so use Rolis or Knok to convert them first.

sir, have tried the editing of text file in 3310/15 v.5.45, 5.47, 5.55
it all wonderfully worked, but then i tried it on a 3310v503, the two symbols (\x01\x05-- blink and line feed) are both visible, in my 3310v5.55, the linefeed char. is invisble unless selected.

anyway, i encountered problems with this version(5.03) of 3310, like when i try to send the blinking message, the "search" text supposedly to appear on the navikey to search for the recipient mobile no. didnt appear, instead, blank display and OK on the navi key and it freezes.

please help. Is v5.03 not capable of the blinking text edit?

Got another quistion... I've made the 3315.. with version 5.45 everything works but whem i'm calling it turns of... with version 5.47 it keeps flashin on/off on/off the whole time.. and whem i tried to make it a 3310 again... it doesn't work.. whit a 3310 eeprom, and a 3310 mcu and ppm.. it says contact service... what am I doing wrong?
