You can have any number of MIDI channels, but your phone will only play 4 notes simultaneously (which is what it's named poliphony). You can not put any MIDI in your 3510 and hope it plays well, as the MIDIs are usually made without having in mind poliphony restrictions. You'll have to adapt it with a sequencer so no more than 4 notes are played at a time, or you'll have to convert to SP-MIDI, which is a format developed by Nokia that allows you to have a MIDI which will be played with the maximum poliphony available in the phone where it plays.
Hope it helps.

I have used cakewalk and i have seen that the midis that have more then 8 channel doesn't play well at my 3510i... for example, i had a midi with 12 channels, i removed four, and it played well on my phone... maybe it's because in the 12 channel midi, there were more than 4 channels playing at the same time! i don't know...
One question:
I have one midi (asereje.mid) that when i play it on my phone, the phone vibrates at the ryhthm of the song! i've tried to make this on another midis, but the only way that i've found is:
open the asereje.mid and cut all the tracks except the one that makes the mobile vibrate, and then, you will have a midi with only one track, so on that midi, paste the tracks from the another midi that i want to vibrate, the problem (obvious) is that the mobile vibrates at ryhthm of the asereje.mid, i have tried a lot of another things, and i haven't been able to modify a midi that makes vibrate the mobile... any idea?

About the Nokia Audio Suite, I've tried it and I wouldn't recommend it.
It requires Cubase VST (if you don't have it don't even think of downloading the suite), and I still have not found the way of working with it without crashing. :(

hie there,
like it was said before this, u can choose to use nokia sound converter which comes along with nokia pc suite 5.1, download it at nokia website...u can also try a proggy known as anvil, search it at google/yahoo, but im not quite sure about it...also on the list of uncertainity is psmplayer/midi2poly, which can cut the length of the midi but im not quite sure it can be used to produce sp midi, by the way, those ringtones which vibrates when u preview them on gallery are of those SP midi, not standard midi although both of them shares the same type of format (.mid), hope this helps !!!
