Trying to convert 8210 to 8250

Spent all night trying to do this got some sort of error and phone was knacked, tried to flash the back up that I made but would not work! made a back up from my other 8210 and flashed that.
YES...but came up with sim card not accepted, anyway got that sorted in the end God knows how. Now im thinking leave alone, but I want to crack this(I'm new to this).
Where can I get the 8250 sw with english? the one I had was a full flash, I think thats were I was going wrong? And what phone do you pull down in the menu 8210 or 8250?

Hi dear
you must at first make sure that your 8210 has DSP ROM 6.. just follow the instruction

You will need:

Rolis 4.77

Knok phoenix

Eprom tools

1) Connect with a data cable your 8210 and use EEPROM Tools v.3.1 read the phone (Click the magnifying glass).
It will display the phones DSP ROM version,
If it is DSP ROM5, you cannot upgrade, because the Rom5 dosn't contain the instruction set needed
If it is DSP ROM 6, proceed to next step.

2) Backup your phone using Rolis 4.77 and a flash cable

3) Flash 8250 MCU+PPM to phone

4) Turn phone ON, and connect mbus cable

5) Clear SP locks with "Eprom tools" (juct clik "reset SP locks)

6) Launch "Knok", and select phone model from dropdown-box

7) Under "Phone settings" click "quick set FAID"

There u go - a 8250

and if you have winxp you should use EEPROM tools v 4 download from here http://www.b-phreaks.co.uk

to download 8250 MCU+PPM

and when flashing you will select 8210 because it is still 8210 till you flash it:D

You also needed to flash the eeprom of the 8250!!

That will be why the phone seemed knacked!
If your phone was the rong CPU versuion it would have said
ASIC<=>SW

I'll tell you what, I will combine the MCU+PPM+Eeprom for you so that it is a complete flash that is blank!

All you will have to do is flash it to your phone!
Just do what Romeo26222 said with the ROM version!

The reason why the 8250 needs a different Eeprom is because its a different phone model!
It needs different registry information!

I managed to do it the end. I found a full flash,but it was chinese then I reflashed it with the 8250 MCU+PPM that Romeo posted.
The only problem is that the tones do not have names but I can live with that.

Sorry bout that mate, forgot to post it!
I will post the one I am actually using now!

It has all ringtone names and a couple of extra tones, it also has fading lights etc.

If you want that one or just a plain one just say and I will post it!

Alright then, will post it after I have read it off the phone!
When you flash it just make sure you change the IMEI etc back to your phones settings!!

Just flash it the same as the other one!
When you are done, update FAID, reset SP locks and update IMEI back to the phones original and it should work fine!

I have got another problem even tho my phone is working as 8250 I cannot back up the phone, programme says bad check sum
how can I fix this? If I try to flash over the top it says wrong phone selected.

I think it is because Iam using roll 4.77 tried to backup with 4.79 and I don't get any errors. Is this because of xp?

that flash file is modded and it sometimes turns itself off,
danwood you also left some of your phone numbers on there, i would take the file of the internet ASAP

have you got a clean backup of an 8250 v6?

or if someone would kindly send it to me [email protected]
i will host it for everyone to download after i have checked and made sure it is an clean version.

i have got a clean 8250 v6 and a newer version v6.2

i have also found out the latest official Nokia 8250 software version is 5.06

just need to obtain and test

It doesn't matter that there are numbers on the file, who the fuck would wanna use them???

I have had no problems with the flash turning its self off! you musta flashed it wrong.
Also I forgot to scrap IMEI on the file so please change it if you use the flash!

mate no need to be like that, just telling you you got all your telephone numbers on the flash file, most people did request a clean one so no nfade or modded signal bar.

for security reasons it would of been a good idea to take of the phone numbers?? you never know what people you can find on the internet.
