First of all it is illegal - "The new offences could be heard in either magistrates’ courts or the Crown Court. If dealt with by magistrates, offenders could face the maximum penalty available in magistrates’ courts of up to six months imprisonment or a £5,000 fine, or both. If the case is heard in the Crown Court the maximum penalty would be up to five years imprisonment or an unlimited fine, or both."

Secondly, if you wanted to do so you would have to replace and reprogramme the UEM chip. This is costly and out of most peoples ability.

No now you can change just by cable, but you need about £7500 to do it.

Where did you find the information on this software can you post a link, or is this just what you have heard. :confused:

Told by someone who knows people in far east were most of the unlocking software comes from, at that price guess only the top players will be buying as it way toooo much for the normal unlocker.

I've heared there's a software option as well, however, couldn't manage to get full details from them :(

Or you could swap the phone outside the UK. It's virtualy impossible to change the EMIE without some serious kit and it's not cheap. You have to replace the chip in the phone and rebuild the EMIE (it's not worth it - trust me)....I've got a nokia 6100 with the same problem, If your outside the UK i'd consider swapping if it was a sensible deal.

I dont think there will be a software solution guys (without changing uem) as chips are only one time writeable so I have heard.

As for UK law the police cant even find the people who steal phones so you got more chance of Bin Laden coming to america for a holiday with saddam, than getting caught in the UK for changing Imeis.
