View Full Version : 3310 water damaged, cleaned, no go
I got a water damaged 3310 from a mate which would only light up the screen lights when a battery was inserted. It would not start up and the lights would only go off when the battery was taken out. I cleaned the main board with meths and gently brushed it with a toothbrush. I dried it for 10 mins with a hair dryer. Put the phone back together and now the leds dont come on at all and the phone wont turn on. It hasnt been flashed as far as i know. What do u think is happening?
Cheers

Hi Guys
To repair a water damged phone always first wash it in pure alcohol then dry it with hair dryer. After that dont try to switch on just try to flash. Use original flashes first and try to use ROLIS 4.78 flasher program cause it always works for me. If u get anymore problems like halfway flash cutting off then use Lead knok phoenix v1 and erase complete flash then write new flash to phone and it work then.
The above way mostly works unless the phone is very badly water damaged.
For more help please mail me or post me again.

Well, i had a 3310 droped in a river, i found it after an hour, just cleand it and dried it on 40 *C surface it works 100%.
Then we had a water fight with my cousin. My 5510 was filled with water, just let it without covers in the sun for few hours and it worked :) I'm not just lucky. There are few rules:
1. When a Nokia phone is droped in water or othe liquid - take out the batery!
2. Take off all the covers and let it dry on sunlight or some hot surface (I don't recommend hair dryer)
3. Than it must be cleand, use alchohol.
Then it should work, it not go to the service.
Sorry for the bad English

WATER DAMAGE AND GENERAL PROBLEMS!!!
Submerge the board in the meths with the RF shields taken off, for 20 mins! After that take it out and run under a cold tap, then using a bowl full of water with washing up liquid scrub the board firmly but carefully with a tooth brush! Go in all directions! You should scrub on both sides for a total of about 10 mins! Run under tap again thoroughly, and using a hair dryer, set it to the lowest blow mode, but highest heat! slowly run the air over the board twice each side! when thats done, lie the hardryer down and lie the board down flat with the RF shield side up! Allow the hot air to blow OVER the board not directly at it for a further 7-8mins! Allow to cool for 15mins and try it in the phone! Don't forget to replace the RF Shields if it works!!!
This WILL clean the phone IF it can be repaired!!! The hairdryer is definately necessary!!! When water hits phone initially remove battery! This will STOP any damage all together!!!;)

Hi chunkhead, ive been told your an expert.
My friend gave me his 3310 and told me it has water damage. It was dropped in the snow about a year ago, and a couple months later the 1 keypad button only started to work when you press it really hard, whilst the * button doesn't work at all. The screen also has a blank line running through the centre of it horizontally.
Any ideas how to fix it please?
Thanks.

To repair the kepad first clean the board with a tooth brush and some methylated spirits. After clean or better replace keypad membrane. Use a multimeter and test outer rings on buuton on board and see if there is continuity from your (Clear,1,4,7,*) they are all on the same track. if the track is somwhere broken just join it using very thin wire and it should be OK.
Concerning your screen it is normally the lcd itself that has been damage cause the tracks on the glass break and are irrepairable.

Thanks obeids, I emailed you about some queries, and I will hopefully try your method soon. Im scared of stuffing up the phone even more. What are the chances that after I attempt what you say the phone won't work at all?
