This Is Scandalous!!!

You know what, I have been checking. Did you know that in this 25 days of May 1800 persons have joined and over 75% of them have posted nothing (not even a "Hi, I'm a Newbe..."), or have only posted "gimme", send me", "keygen please"... and not even a thank you after a reply????

Also, have you notice the increase of "joining" after some nice people (thank you NOKIA7650UK, thank you UNIQUE, and everybody else...), started giving free codes away, and how thoese "newbe's" never post a word again after they get what they wanted?? THAT'S SCANDALOUS!!! (...and the same goes for quite few other people that joiened before all that...)

Also, how about those that basicaly join to throw abuse to others or to "take the pis*" at other peoples comments or questions, get banned and rejoin with another "nick" (or those who have more than 1 "nick" for this purpose????
IS THERE NOT A WAY TO STOP THAT??

We should "protect" our beloved forum from all this somehow, don't you think guys???

I don't know about other people, but the primary reason I joined this forum is to learn more about the capabilities of my phone and what programs are available for it. If there are posts that I know the answer to, I try to help where I can, I don't do it because I expect a compliment, a reward, or some sort of recognition, not even a thank you, the very thought that I get to help others (especially newbies) is enough for me. Selfish people will always refuse to share or help, that's their nature, but those of us who are true and loyal to the purpose and essence of this forum will continue to share and help, that's our nature, but let us not expect to be thanked or complimented for it (I know that a thank you would be nice, but it isn't really necessary).

I've seen many of your posts and replies, I do know for a fact that you have helped a lot of people in this forum, so in behalf of all those you have helped, I would like to thank you for sharing and helping us, I hope that you will continue to do so, you are an asset to this forum, do not let selfish people get the better of you.

True crazyf1. Before just posting about something I also tend to scan the forum and if already there, why post again.

It is in the nature of a forum, that there might already be others that had the same problem you had and therefore why waste peoples time about the same question.

and also. I agree with whipit. thanks for helping us that do not know as much about the S60 series as you ALMOGAVER. We all do our bits when we can (those that want to).

The rest. well. They come and they go. Nature of humans I guess. forget them ;-)

And yes. I have not posted a lot. But that is because most of the questions I have had, have mostly been answered :-) So thanks to this forum. A great help for me.

I didn't say that every single "newbe" is a person taking adavantge of others..... I was one of them once!
If you people check, you'll se that some people just appear (ie), to get a free code and that's it!!

Well, EASY... Besides, you are just contradicting yourself... Did you see how I mention about the "abuse problem" on my previous post??? Then how compatible do you think this is with rule 3 to start with??? So, NO, is not OK! ...besides, it doesn't say in THE RULES as such that you are not allowed to (ie) post warez, but we all not you can not do it so... you just have to do a search.... COMMON SENSE my friend ;)

Unfortunately that seems to be something common for big forums. I've noticed that on many ones, included the one that I am a moderator in ( http://www.unwired.gr/forum ). More than half of its members haven't make a single post... This is normal... Don't worry 'bout them.

i remember when i first had my 7650, i looked for sitez/yahoo groups/forums everywhere............................Then.......................................i learned irc, and although im 56k (stop laughing at the back) i've collected 21,000 7650 apps.games.tones. wallapapers, equalling over 2.9 gig. of which i host them all on EFNET channel #nokia7650

now i can say that forums and sites arent the way to go, ONLY IRC, at least on Irc we wont do requests and we let *****s download what they want without begging. and if the *****s come back for more leeching without a word of chat they simply get shit listed and banned.

You are right ALMOGAVER, I agree, but for me, I don't help anybody just for a sake of a thanks. I help them because I don't want anyone to suffer because of a problem whose solution I know. If he says thanks, it's o.k. and if he does'nt it alright too. And as far as unlock codes go, I have seen many people who usually lock their mobiles just because they try to clear the call timers, that too many times. A very common and simple reason. You are right about the "scandal" thingy but I think 80% are still genuine. And I think for 20%, 80% should not suffer...What do you say...

Seriously though, it is annoying that people just sign up to get free codes generated, but if nfree offers the service, they are gonna take advantage of it (after all it is better than paying someone £10 to do it)

Unique just passworded his online generator so you have to be part of unique forums to use it (and good on him!)...but what I feel will happen is people just sign up to use the online generator...

If you offer a free service, be prepaired to get a lot of freeloaders :(

Well, I have experienced one thing from nearly every forum I have seen in my Internet life...60% of the total forum members are only concerned about their problems, 15% are there to just flash their names in the member list, only 25% or even less at times are really concerned about other's problems and care to solve them. And I know one thing, that if forums like NokiaFree are alive, they are alive because of those 25% members.

I'm with NokDoc, my first post here was about unlocking a 3310 (which I still have hidden in drawer somewhere).

No point in limiting people to 5 posts minimum before they ask for codes, that'd just send them in a 'meaningless posting' frenzy.

I used this forum a lot between September last year when I joined and April this year when work caught up with me and I had to leave internet forums alone for a while, so I'm kinda lost now... Feeling like a newbie!

So it happens to all of us and if people can't or don't want to make a contribution then that's their problem really. The folks who do develop things here won't be stopped by a newbie not saying thank you ;)
