I am experimenting with this now!
All you do is flash it with a 2100 flash and change LCD to one with higher resolution!

The problem is I have no idea what LCD I need to put in, I have got the phone working but the screen is back-to-front and you can only see one corner of it!

If anyone knows what LCD I need to put on could you please tell me!!

Cheers for any info!

Dan

Besides the LCD problem, is there any other problem such as network, system hang, or something like that?

Hi :)
Hmm did not do that or even thought of doing it... but, how about trying with an original LCD for the 2100? It should be the one..... And should be available as a replacement part at any Nokia shop, at least they will certainly be able to order it....
Excuse me the dumb question, but what functions does a 2100 have which a 8210/8250 doesn't? I could get hold of a 8250 which i got tons of accessories for (used one for a long time) and i would also be interested in doing this mod. After all it would be a 2100 still looking like a 8250 :) nice gag :)
(you can make a 6510 out of a 8310 by flashing the 6510's software onto the 8310 and replace the screen with a 6510's, too, which also got a higher resolution. Looks like the same story...)
Thank you for your attention....
your Thanh

why change your 8250 to 2100, 8250 is much better than 2100

Why we wanna do this?

This is just an experiment to see if it works or not. My side here , they are charging Malaysian Currency RM 180.

So i think there is a way to do it, cheaper.

Well if u dun like the 2100 after flashing it, u can just flash it back to 8250.

2100 has the screen saver option, BTW.

ive tried flashing my 8250 using the 2100 flash, and i set it to 8250 config.
The problem is, i dun have any display after flashing and it can turn on and off perfectly. Whats wrong?

Whats the address to write to?

Take the battery out and wait a couple of seconds, this worked with mine!

and make sure you write the eeprom to 003F0000 as this is the eeprom address on th 2100 and not the 8250 which is 003D0000!

@coolvines2000 the 2100 is a better phone than the 8250! it has picture message editor, newer games, animated screensavers etc. so is obviously a better phone!
also the 2100 costs more but looks crap so this would be a cheap and better looking 2100!!

is the 2100 LCD the same size as the 8210/50??

I haven't actually seen a 2100 so I have no idea!
If I can get hold of one I will deffinatly try it!!

Yeah flash this eeprom to your phone!

When it asks for a start address flash it to 003F0000 instead of 00200000 which it will normally start at!

as long as the 2100 software has flashed properly it should turn on! It will probably come up with contact service to start with but then if you change the IMEI it should be ok!

otherwise read it back off and correct the chksums of the file with something like nasFcon!
