Is there a way to format the mmc from my n3650 because everytime i try to even access the menu it displays me a general system failure!!!!!!I had smart launcher installed and deleted some files with seleq. After that nothing works!!!!Unless i remove the card from the phone....PLEASE HEEEELP!!!!!!

And btw can i use an 128mb mmc?

my friend has the same problem...well, last day he met a guy and told him that he can fix it...i think the guy told him he'll just put the mmc into his 9210 where he will then format it...ill ask my friend again if that is the procedure the guy will do. He also installed Smart Launcher and sTools a few days after his mmc got corrupted.

Did you try reformatting your phone? press *#7370#, you will then be asked for a code (by default, the code is 12345, unless you changed it). Enter the code and confirm that you want to reformat your phone. Take note that everything will be restored to the factory (default) settings, all installed applications, SMS's, ringtones, and CONTACTS will be deleted. After you reformat your phone you have to reformat your mmc (assuming that you can already access the menus). To reformat your mmc, go to the extras folder, open memory (you'll see an icon of an mmc), then select option then choose format mem. card.

NOTE: when reformatting your phone, DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT interrupt the reformatting process, if you do, there is a big chance that it will screw up your phone. The reformat process may take a few minutes, just let the process finish. Be sure your battery is charged or plug the phone to the adaptor when reformatting your phone, if it turns off during the reformat process your phone will most likely be screwed.

If after reformatting your phone, you still can't access your menus, I suggest you take it a Nokia Service Center and have them reflash or upgrade the OS, more often than not, that solves the problem.

and yes, you can use a 128mb mmc. You can also try twenty2's suggestion, have someone reformat the mmc using their phone or use an mmc card reader to reformat your mmc.

But I strongly suggest that you reformat your phone, It's better that way.

i already tried reformating the phone and tried to insert the card to another phone in order to format it. After having formated it without the card everything was superb, when i inserted the card general system failure....Could that mean that my card is corrupted? when i insert the card in another phone in order again to format it the "host" phone will display the same message...system failure...

Well, since the phone works without the mmc card, it's safe to assume that the mmc is corrupted. That also happened to me three times because of a faulty mmc reader/writer. You can try to format the phone using a digital camera that has an mmc expansion slot, that's what I did when my mmc got corrupted (I went to a computer shop and asked a sales person if I could checkout a casio x-slim camera they were selling, I told him I wanted to check if it was compatible with my mmc card, I used the camera to format the mmc and it worked, of course, I didn't buy the camera, hehehe! what can I say, I'm a cheap bastard). You could also use an mmc reader/writer to format it (be sure to use a branded mcc reader, not the cheap ones, In my experience, not all the cheap mmc readers are compatible with all brands of mmc.

or maybe you should try changing your username from luciffer 2 to gabriel or peter, maybe god is punishing you for using his arch enemies name, hehehe! just kidding bud. Try using another device (not another 3650 phone) to reformat your mmc card, I think that will solve the problem.

but why would it work in a digi camera and not by using another n3650?anyways if i buy a 256mb mmc will it recognise it? Or is there a 128mb limitation?

Yeah I know it's somewhat puzzling, but it worked for me. We are just exploring all possible options to remedy the problem, it may or may not work. Let's see if we can fix the problem first before you decide to purchase a new card. As far as I know, the 3650 supports 256mb mmc's, although I'm not sure. I read in the one of the post's that you can use a 256mb mmc but it will slow your phone down, again, I'm not sure if this is true. Try my suggestion first, reformat the mmc with another device that supports a mmc, preferrably a digicam, cause that's what worked for me.

i'll try to find someone with a digicam as you suggested nevertheless i'm going to purchase a card cause 16mb are not enough,but till i have it i need that damn card!!

i have experienced the same as lucifer but then again as i have a MMC card reader/writer attached to my pc i can format my MMC just like your formating a floppy diskette....................................but be aware that pc formating will just delete all what is stored in the MMC.......................................unlike if you will format in your 3650 it will create the folders like images,videos,etc...............................so after formating using your reader/writer..................................format it again using your 3650 so you can have the default folders......................................

Yeah, I suggest you get a larger capacity mmc. I'm currently using a 128mb mmc, it's great for watching movies, although 128mb isn't that big when you're talking about videos, at least I can watch 1 full lenght movie.

Because Nokia Service Center sucks! it's too much of a hassle to go to them, and they make you wait for God knows how long.

Yes it's true that when you format an mmc using a card reader/writer it won't create the folders created by the 3650 format process, but at least it would delete the corrupted file in the mmc making it readable again by the 3650, then you can reformat the mmc using the phone. The important thing is that the phone is able to recognize the mmc. Normally when an mcc is corrupted it will show a "memory full" warning when you use another mmc capable device (such as a digital camera, mmc reader, etc.) to read the corrupt mmc.

i went to nokia service but it whould take half a millenium....So i found a friend of mine who had a card reader and just deleted the files and ofcourse the problem remains...should format the card instead of just deleting the files?

Try formatting the card, if it still doesn't work, then chances are, you're card is defective, if it is covered by warranty, just return the card and have it replaced.

I Did it!!!
I found someone with a card reader, i had the card formatted but by ms-dos!!!even windows couldn't do it!!!!I then formatted again using my phone and all is ok!!! Thanks Whippit especially for all his help
