View Full Version : Phone won't turn on when connected to Mbus

I've got here a 3310 that seems to be working except when it is connected to my computer with an Mbus, it will not turn on. It works well with Fbus, I've already flashed several times but my problem is I can't change the IMEI because it won't work with Mbus.

Anybody got a solution with this thing? :( :( :(

Serious suggestion; connect the cable after turning on the phone.

1) Turn on the phone
2) Lock keypad
3) Unclip battery...very carefully lever it up
4) Connect the cable
5) Gently push the batter holder on the Mbus cable into the clips...should be fine.

You may get an "Insert Sim" message...just leave it for a few seconds, this is because as you lever the battery up, you drop the voltage supply to the phone, so the sim voltage drops below a critical value.

However, I would say if your phone isn't turning on with the cable connected, there is probably a good reason...but try the above anyway.

Good luck

Bob

Thanks Bob Longe, your suggestion does work. The problem now is the phone won't communicate to the computer with an Mbus. I also tried to open the sp locks with windls through an Fbus but it won't work either.

anymore Ideas?

Surely not a pure Fbus cable? (I didn't think they existed)

If it is an autoswitching cable, then use NokTools by Rolis v1.9.

Connect Phone
Fire up NokTools
Click on Autosetup (It's a ladybug symbol, or in the menus)
Do whatever you want (As in change IMEI)

And it should work.

Oh, and you aren't on 2k/XP are you? You are using 98SE?

Gluck

Bob

P.S. How did you know my surname was Longe, (Why did you bother to look at my profile?) :D

It doesn't matter what he uses. Just use mbus. I have winxp and a f/mbus cable (not auto) and i use it without any problems. No userport installed.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again!!! USERPORT IS FOR THE LPT PORT!!! F\Mbus functions are not using the LPT port so userport is not needed, however, most of the F\Mbus programs will not work properly in Win2K\XP due to incompatibilities!!! Eg. Knok95...;)

anyway, i have no problem in using the cable. all the progz i have for mbus are working 100%

I didn't mention useport :P?

User32, you run NokTools by Rolis 1.9 w/out compatability mode on?

...I was just asking, so that I could point out he needs to run it in compatability mode...so it does matter what he is using...

umm.. nahh, userport is for anything that bypasses the windows hardware security model.. you can tell it to free the adderss ranges used by the hard disk controller, and suddenly apps can hit the HD directly. allegedly.

that said, i got annoyed with 2k, and used userport to free up the entire i/o address range.. didnt help anythiung :) and now i use 98 to flash

@cjard

Outta interest do you dual boot?

Since I run 2k and am very happy with it's stability and speed for vid editing etc, but basically nothing is written for it in terms of unlocking and flash, so I'll probably have to dual boot it with 2k...oh dear, Fat32 is back

:D

you dont ahve to install both os on the same partition.. no i dont dual boot, i use the computer at work that cuts the vinyl.. the 16 bit shitty app that cuts the signs out dont run on win2k, so we have it on 98.. im not interested in computers enough to bother with that dual nboot bollocks any more..

hpwever, i can remember exactly how to do it, and its a breeze..

http://www.ranish.com

download partition manager.. make a fat32 and and ntfs partition, you can shrink your existing ntfs by some method, add a new fat32 partition on the end of the disk and install windows 98 on that.

ideally, you should make a small partition at the start of the disk, install win98 on it, then install win2k on the larger one that is second.. a few boot files from win2k will go on the first partiion and the rest will go on the second

why this way? well win 2k is much better at booting and running off a cnon-C:\ partition.. whereas win98 is very retarded in this respect

Ehr of course...I do know how to dual boot :)

All I was saying that I have to give up around 1 gig for booting...and that has to be FAT32. *Fun*

Then again with 80gb it doesn't really matter.

But I have to fdisk the whole thing, windows managed partitions = shit really.

So delete my primary and extended partitions...

Four hours later I've reinstalled every piece of extra hardware and have two operating systems.

*Fun*

how about VM-Ware? can't we use win98 within winxp/2k?
