Is there any software that shows the number of an incoming call even if the caller with-holds their number?

Pretty sure no,

If a user has decided to withold the number, there is very little you can do to get hold of that number.

A government agency would probably have to contact the network provider for a list of incomming calls...

Short answer, no :)

Bob

P.S. What do you need this software for?

Yes bobl...u r right. Although even contacting the network operator won't help. Because your network will only be ble to tell the number if the calling number is also from the same network otherwise the number is not passed even to your network.

PS: It was a good question...;-)

So that i can use the software on my phone and witness it for myself. One of my collegues @ work said that they had it 'done' to their phone and it worked for a while then the phone stopped working completely.

When you withhold your number, a request to do so is sent to your network, they then decide whether or not to forward your number!;)

no, because the network doesnt transmit it to your phone/. simple as that. there are actually 2 numbers for caller ID, but one is not-witholdable and is accessed by the emergency services (i.e. you cannot withold your number when calling 999 - this helps them give pranksters the screwing they deserve)

@robinhoods
is this (http://nokiafree.org/forums/t27450/s.html) answering your question?

my network does not allow to hold the number

If your network does not allow you hold the number...htf do you hold the number?

My network doesn't allow me to do X...how do I do X?

Does the question make sense? or is it as rediculous as I think?

Change networks is probably a good plan if you really wanna hold numbers

Cheers

@robinhoods,

My response really should have covered this mate, think about it...

If you network doesn't support it, it won't work.

I am in the same boat for "Closed user group"...I cannot use it on my network...therefore I cannot use it WHATEVER I do<fullstop>

Really mate, even if you force your nokia to say it has set it, the network will just ignore this setting...really!

Cheers

Bob

P.S. Of course if anyway manages to do this, I'll eat the words above ;)
