a friend of mine had a nokia 6150 that was blocked(imei) talking about 4 years ago back in the days when it wasnt easy to solve it was only blocked on orange so we unlocked it and used it on other networks well he still has this phone and took it on holiday used it everything was ok I mean this phone is just a back up phone dont really worry about it if you get my drift when he returned from holiday abroad he put a orange chip in it and hey presto it now works on every network how strange!!
please dont say why didnt we just change the imei ages ago cause we really aint bothered bout an old 6150

he put a orange chip

Orange sim yeh?

Very freaky incident, maybe Orange updated their blocked IMEI database in the meanwhile, or some how it was removed from Orange's database :)

Btw, why is this in software?

Cheers

Bob

naturally it helps if you put a location in your profile when asserting "where we come from"

however, owing to the context of your message i think youre fromt he uk. as i am also from the uk, i can assure you that people in the uk do not call SIMs "chips" (unless they are especially ignorant).

A while back people were putting chips into phones to enable the handset to make unlimited free calls, it was a phillips handset in particular if i remember correctly.

People in my area used to call these phones 'chipped' so maybe as this crime was massly pulicised, people picked up the term for calling sims chips from that.

All in all,

Chips are found in casino's and chip packets only! never in my whole life have a heard of them being called chips. "Chips" are things which can alter information acordingly where as sims can only store information...

thats my two cents. mmmmmmmmmmmm money...

PASS THE SALT !!!! i like chips lol

With regards to the IMEI change perhaps after 4 years the phone gets removed as its no longer valuable !!!!

Its is a 6150 after all hee hee (i do like them honest)

6150 is a good phone but everything is still worth money can you remember the sony mars bar phone someone bought one off my mates carboot stall for 5 pound, as for the chips saga what the hell we call it what we like i suppose, i think the thing you have to remember is everyone has an opinion and we should respect those opinions
