Is there any way to input a code in order to check which network a nokia phone is locked to?
Cheers
I don't believe so, however you can probably find out which network (rather than network code) a phone is locked to.
(The following will be different, but try to make educated guesses by menu structure)
Menu --> Settings --> Phone settings --> Network selection --> Manual -->
*Searching*
And it will be the first one on the list...
To get the network code look up that in a list (I presume you know the country you got it from)
Another way is to enable netmonitor #6 and look at the first number on the list (on the left), that is your network code.

its no guarantee, im afraid, as that list is generated by the sim.. my phone is not locked, but with my orange sim, onlky orange is selectable.. this doesnt mean it is locked to orange.
i think it is probably a case of put the wrong sim card in it.. if it says not accepted, its locked. if it accepts but gets no network, its not dual/triple band and it has the wrong band
Very good point, sorry I didn't think of that.
I have always used the original sim (since I've had so few phones)
But yeh, as cjard said, the only way you're gonna find that out is getting a few freinds and borrowing their sims to check...shouldn't be too difficult.
<EDIT>ACTUALLY, cjard think about it...if he gets into the phone, and the phone is locked to a network...then it must be that sim's network that the phone is locked to...I.E. if he is able to access network monitor, he must have a network that is accepted by the phone to get there in the first place...So in that sense, yes it is garunteed if the phone is locked...Not that it matters!</EDIT>

Naturally, but it is, like i saidm, no guarantee that the phone is locked. What he needs absoultely is 2 sim cards, preferably on different bands:
Both work -> phone is not locked and is dual band
Both work one no network -> single band unlocked phone
One works -> locked phone unknown band capability
neither work -> locked phone on some other network

actually, im talking some crap here, because there are 4 locks..
phones can be locked to a network, a specfic sim, a group of sims and something else.. i forget what. it might be subproviders of a same network..
in the uk, Virgin mobile is a virtual network.. they use 121 (orwhatever it is called now) by buying minutes wholesale and selling retail to the customer. it is possible that the other lock is to lock a phone to this..
see, 121 and virgin are both 230-34 i think (or 230-30), so their sim might normally be interchangeable, unless it is locked to one via some method..
generally only a couple of the locks are used, but that sim scenario i gave above might not hold true in some cases. m,ost the time it will
the guy does NOT have a cable.
Yeh, I answered this question from the beginning, saying "No"...
see, 121 and virgin are both 230-34 i think (or 230-30)
If you're talking about UK, it's 234-30, both T-Mobile (aka 121) and Virgin are 234-30...Though T-Mobile is also 234-31 and 32...
Heres an odd thing, a locked dct4 phone that has code 1 locked, but allows both O2 and Vodaphone sim cards....Now that makes sense don't it?
Cheers
Bob
P.S. A final answer would be "No, get some sim cards and check"
