Right i have a nokia 8310, it was my girlfriends she had it on O2 (UK) contract she gave the phone to me i put my Orange (UK) PAYT sim card in and it worked fine, i'm selling the phone now and one of the blokes from work put his O2 (UK) PAYT sim card in, he didnt get any network service anywhere, but was able to access his phone numbers that were stored on his sim card, he went away thinking about buying it, i put my Orange (UK) PAYT sim back in and i got the error message "SIM card registration failed" and "quit" in the bottom right of my display, i clicked on quit and now i dont get any network service, but i can still access the phone numbers stored on my SIM card!! So i have a useless phone now!!!
Whats going on?? Help i really need my phone!!!
Do i need to buy a cable? if so which one?
Will i need any software? I have nokia system suite is this ok?
Thanks in advance guys

mine was reported stolen on monday by my girlfriend, they barred her sim card but not the phone as it was working fine all week up until i put my work mates O2 (UK) PAYT SIM card in then it started going wrong!
On the good side my girlfriend is letting me buy a Nokia 6100 SIM free unlocked for £175 tonight from a gut in the local paper!!
I still wanna get this sorted if somebody can help either me or prittybird out it would be much appreciated!!
Thanks guys

Basically what happens is they put the serial number of the phone on a big list, this list is consulted every time you turn your phone on, if the serial number of your phone is in the list your sim card will be unable to register with the network and you won't get a signal!
There is a problem with nokia dct4 phones, you have to change a chip that the IMEI is stored on in the phone and then reprogramme the chip!
It is not a difficult prcedure for someone who is good with electronics and SMD soldering but would not recommed for Novices!

I'm just wondering smokeyuk, why your girlfriend reported the phone as stolen if you (her boyfriend) was using the phone???
