Well it appears Cricket Communications disabled the *#06# code for finding the IMEI code, which renders most things I might want to do useless without a data cable...

I have a 5170i, does anybody know how to calculate or figure the IMEI based upon other information???

IMEIs only for GSM phones....your phone is CDMA....

**************
IMEI is an identification system for ANY cellular DEVICE!!!

Why do I get responses from people who have no freaking clue???

Anyway, if you don't know about Crickets... keep on not knowing, ok, if anybody does.. please let me know.

I've ordered a data cable in the meantime anyway, which I will be able to use to determine it... (and i'll make sure to take some nice screenies when I do, to prove Captain Amazing here how stupid he really is)....

wouldn't the IMEI number be on a sticker on the back of the phone? seen when you take the battery out?

every nokia phone has a sticker that tells imei. if phone has no imei, there's no imei.
and if sticker is removed, i'd say "stolen".

I have 5 5170 CDMA Cricket (always been cricket, always been CDMA), phones which display IMEI, that's really weird... must be some kind of conspiracy, cuz.. i'm wrong.. right?

When I took them in to flash the firmware on a few of them, the *#06# code no longer works, cricket says it's becuase they've disabled the code because of people removing sp locks ...

weird...

cuz .. i'm wrong...

there is no spoon ROFL
