i there! :)
this is my first post :D
does someone knows how to make a backup of all sms we have in 7650?
i'm talkin' about a backup in pc, in way that we can restore the SMSs back to fone with his original sender, etc...
i've tried message saver but it only let you save the sms to txt file, so it's impossible to restore SMSs back to phone like they were just received!
i've tried some other things like copy the c:\system\mail\ dir to pc (sucessefully) but when i try to copy this dir back to phone, the file "index" can't be copied because something like this "already in use" appears... is any way to start the phone without starting that file? i mean... when a full backup is made on nokia PC suite and then restored, that file (index) has to be replaiced for the backup...
enought of bad english (sorry about it :P ) and let's try to backup sms :) hehe

thnkx for the advice :)
my 7650 already was in NSC too, but it seems that i din't learn the lesson!
i'm addict to the experiment of new things :P
BTW: i did the "index" replace in fly mode! but... the SMSs don't changed! i even DELETED the c:\system\mail dir and the f**k*i*g SMSs stayed on mobile phone like rocks... :(
My conclusion is that c:\system\mail isn't the SMSs dir... but where is it? i can't find that damned dir...
i REALLY NEED to backup my SMSs cause i wanna format the fone but don't want to lost messages... any ideia?

Hi,
here is what u can do:
1) Use PC file manager software on ur pc to browse the contents of ur phone, then, just copy and paste the messages or files u want to backup to any folder on ur pc. I have not tried this but I think this is safe enough to do because u will not tweak any system files.
2) Or Use SMS saver software on ur phone and then save ur sms as notes. Then use PC file manager to copy and paste similar to #1.
hope this helps,

This is what i have been trying but i can't find the files were SMSs are saved in!
message saver doesn't works for me cause i want to restore the smss back to the phone as SMSs and not like notes...

After a lot of hours arround the phone and the sms... I DID IT! :-D
that's made in the stupidest way possible! I mean.. there's no need to mess with system files on the phone or doing anything unhuman because the solution is right there in front of our eyes...
NOKIA PC SUITE 5!!!! ROTFLOLOLOLOOL  :D :-o
when doing the backup, if you choose only the "documents" option, you'll get a sms backup only and then restore it the same way! just enable the "documents" option! i don't know how didn't found this sooner... i have even shame of it
whatever... i have my problem solved and so has a lot of people! :D
leespud: for you to made that, just need to give another name to the phone (for any another backup, don't be overwrited) then backup only the "documents", change the MMC to the new one, and restore only the backup! then you can change back the phone's name. (i don't remember how can we change the name but i think that's in mmrouter on pc... or in any option in nokia pc suite! )
thankx to all tha helped in this topic :D ;)

at least we know there are people out there that use the SEARCH function of this forum!!! :D
BTW the reason i couldnt connect to pc suite was due to confliction with my firewall, it was all sorted long ago :D
