i've read about it in a post on some forum, but it was in spanish and i really didn't get it... and i saw a post talking about it in this forum either!
i know that with that trick we are able to start the phone without loading a part of software.. (at least was that i've readed from the spanish post but i found it weird..)

Basically, the abc trick, i think, means that when your phone doesn't start up anymore because of a system error, you keep the abc button pressed, and it will start up...

As I understood it, it's like a safe mode for your phone to just start without starting the program with errors. The same concept with any windows OS.

Hi all,

The ABC button can be used to copy and paste phone numbers to the clipboard so that if u want to send an sms to a number which was not saved on ur phonebook, just use the function of the abc for copy and paste.

my phone didn't boot anymore ,so i tried to press the abc button during boot, and it booted normally, without errors and WITHOUT WILDSKINZ, so i found out that wildskinz messed up my phone, uninstallled it, delete the system.ini file on the c: and rebooted, phone worked fine, created a new system.ini file! also my keyboard didn't worked nymore, i only could type letters, so i booted in safe mode, deleted the system.ini file, rebooted, new system.ini file was created, and pop! the Great 7650 worked back!

great phone, what a machine really, best phone i know
didn't try the p800, but seems a little 'quick-to-brake' phone!
no offence off coarse

The solution is - start wildskinz, go to options, and DISABLE. Then uninstall wildskinz. If you already have uninstalled wildskinz, install it again, disable it and uninstall again.

Does this ABC safe mode trick work on all filmware versions?

yeah it will work on all firmware versions.. Basically it's just to bypass any start up porgrams that your phone might be having..
Cheers

the ABC trick on startup is the equivalent of Windows users being able to hold down Shift (or ctrl - cant remember) during loading, it by-passed everything in the "Startup" group, and likewise on teh phone, ignores apps told to load at boot :)

Hope this helps

i've encountered the 'system error' twice before and the abc trick worked fine. now my phone's busted again. i'm puzzled why the 'safe mode' won't work. so right now i have to use my 3650 without the mmc. :( any advice?

hi... you can either get a card reader or find someone who has one.....put in your mmc and edit it through the pc....just delete the files that you believe messed up your system...or just delete everything and have your cell reformat the mmc...

i hope you don't have valuable files on your mmc :)

You can aquire relatively cheap mmc readers in LIDL , from typhoon , i got one for 20 € and another from YE Data for my HTPC for 25 € , for now i'm instaling all app's and games on the MMC card , and have made a total backup of it before it , so i think it can be used as a Backup , also when i get an bigger card , i also think it's possible to simply copy all the files from one card to another and all will be fine.
As for the Pencil / ABC buton , till now i haven't needed to use it.

the so called "abc trick" won't work in my case. my problem is that i can't boot the phone in any way, only a message appears: "phone start-up failed. contact the retailer" well, i did just that, and had a very awkward time with the retailer, as the nokia service center here cannot fix the damn phone. i'm worried that the retailer is gonna find out that i had 3rd party applications installed to the phone, and they're gonna charge me up the wazoo. any suggestions -- can they find the applications even if the phone won't start (in safe-mode or any other)?
