View Full Version : Reverse-engineering a dongle

Hello, as far as I know, the dongle contains a PIC chip. That's the same chip as used in the PSX MOD-Chips, just a more powerfull modell. (The PSX-chip is the PIC-12C508A).
The chip contains a program to recieve IMEI and Providercode via LPT, calculate DCT4-unlock codes and send it back to LPT.
So why not disassemble the code contained inside the PIC, write an app and throw away those dongles?
I am sure there are some talented assembly programmers here, and finding a PIC programmer or building one to rip the HEX isn't too difficult. Then everyone could unlock DCT4 phones.

Hex is one thing - writing and decoding the assembly language for the program is another. Very tough.

The thing around here is ... it seems as if nobody is bothered into making any effort to crack the dongle.
There surely must be some talented person(s) on this board who can help but just cant be assed. I used to do assembly programming, but i've forgotten now cuz i've moved onto programming in perl so im not of any use, otherwise i would have helped crack this shit and do my part time ago.
Goodluck i hope you find people to help you, it would be cool to throw these dongles away and make it totally dongle free.

does anybody have the source code to a working dct4 calculator. I am looking for the source in VB if possible, because that is what I think most of the programs are wrote in.

Chris

Basically, the "Calc 4 DCT4" is just a prog, that sends over IMEI and MCC+MNC and displays the crap that the dongle spits out.
You could even write a DOS programme to do that and unlock Nokias with your old 486 laptop computer :-)
The key to this problem is: Sniff the data comming throug LPT and write your own prog. It's easier than it sounds...
