View Full Version : mp3 to midi conversion
i have some mp3 ringtones but when i convert them to midi using Intelliscore v5 the file doesnt sound anything like the mp3... anybody know how to make the conversion identical (or close to it)? What instrument should I use in Intelliscore when i'm asked for it

convert waveforms to notes?
almost impossible. some notes are easier, eg. piano, plain guitar.
easier way is take a book that has that song in notes (warner music does these) and use eg. jazz midi sequencer and save to midi.
go to library and check out those books.
i have heard many bad ringtones, eg. sting - englishman in new york, but i have taken a book and did my own ringtone from original notes, and it was really good.
if i had time to do those ringtones... but no.
ya the thing is i found a few midi ringtones that were identical to the mp3 versions that i have, so can it be impossible? I'm hoping there is some way to convert them perfectly

umm.. so you found midis that are good enough to play eg. with winamp and sounds almost as mp3?
and then you want to convert mp3 to midi?
i can't get your idea...
but, if you want to take only one melody from midi that has eg. 10 tracks, just delete other tracks and save as 1-track midi to use as ringtone with logomanager etc.
for polyphonic (dct4 phones) you don't need to do anything?
or take some useless tracks off and make a bit smaller that midi.
jazz midi sequencer is very good program to edit midi's, and it's free.
with it, you can split/merge tracks (1 to x tracks (each instrument on own track), x to 1 track (all in one track)).

my problem is that I have a bunch of ringtones in mp3 format, and obviously my phone will not use those. I have to convert them to midi, but when I do i lose all the sound and it sounds nothing alike.
i'm looking for a program to let me convert perfectly. i have found midi files which are identical to some mp3 files i have, so I know some sort of conversion is possible. Just have to find someone who knows it.
