Hi all

I am new to the nokia scene, and have just built up a 8250 using 8210 chassis and connectors with a 8250 PCB and UI module.

Everything works fine except the microphone intermittently stops working. I can hear people on the phone but they cant hear me.

Is there anything i should be looking for ? I dont think its a mechanical problem, i have just cleaned all the contacts.

Also is the microphone the 2pin device located in the bottom right hand corner of the phone ? Just to be sure im looking at the right part ..

thanks!

Where did you get the parts? Maybe there was a problem with the board originally? Try a different board in the chassis to check!;)

Cheers chunkhead. I think i have it sorted for now. Replaced the microphone with one from another phone and it seems to be fine. Hopefully its fixed for good this time.

I see your also in australia.. do you know what language pack we use in australia ? I think its J ?? My phone has 3.18 firmware and its horribly slow and buggy, i would like to flash it up to the 6.02 firmware if i can find out which files to use..

I'm not to sure what pack comes standard, but I personally don't really care as I speak english and they are on all of the packs I have in my flashes! Sorry! As for your firmware version, an upgrade is definately in order! I use 8250 v5.04 as standard! It hasn't given me any problems or bugs so far! If it ain't broke don't fix it!!!:D

so you recommend the 5.04 firmware over the 6.02 ?? I am thinking about flashing my phone some time soon (if i can think of a way to connect onto the programming pins of the 8250)

For flashing you need cables! You can build them yourself, there are loads of schematics on the board, or you can buy one from the net! U-Cables (Top right corner) sell these cables and they come highly recommended! I bought mine in the U.K so I don't know much about these ones!;)

I have built a programmer and mbus cable, i just have to make some sort of connector for the pins on the phone. its a pain in the ass to connect to. Any ideas ?? I em even considering soldering some temporary wires directly onto the board, but would like to avoid it if i can.

About firmware versions .. you recommend 5.04 over 6.02 ?? (cant be any worse than what i have thats for sure - 3.18 is so damn buggy !)

if i were you i would buy an 8210 connector for the flasher kit, they dont cost much. Then on your flasher cable put a mini 6 pin din socket. Then there isnt any need to solder to the phone pcb

Try:

http://www.centralpark.net.au/
http://www.mobacc.com.au/ <- This is where I got my flasher kit :)

hey thanners

I had a look at mobacc.com.au - their flasher kit looks great. How have you found it ? Is it good quality ?

Unfortunately they wont sell me just the connector for my phont, so im just gonna buy the whole kit.

Also with the mbus/fbus part of the kit - how does it select automatically between mbus and fbus ??

thanks !

So far I have found it fine! I thought the 8210 connecter was dodgy at first, but it ended up being my own 8210 as I can flash other 8210s just fine.

Quality is ok, but don't go swinging cable around :) First time I used the 3210 connector, the catch to hold it in place broke, but it still sits and makes a tight connection regardless.

I don't know how it automatically selects mbus/fbus connection but so far I haven't had troubles with NokiaTool or Logomanager.

I only order the base kit (without the 8310 connector) but it came with the 8310 connector! Hopefully yours does too. :)

I found this place quite good to deal with and packaging is good, so your cable won't be damaged in transit.
