Hey all,

I'm new to the world of 60 gen phones. I just picked up my 3650 about 36 hours ago. Other than the fooked up keypad I'm digging it. I've already got it tied into my PC via bluetooth and got Doom working... sorta, it crashes from time to time... This Hitachi 128mb mmc seems to be working perfectly. (it would be nice if the mmc was on the out side of the battery)

But the real question is where do I start expanding its functionality? What are the essential games and apps? What are the links that kick ass? What can I make this bitch do?

Thanks in advance guys. I'm off to continue the hunt...

good question... haha.. veri overwhelming isnt it??

u can check yahoo groups. they have tons of stuff like this.

famous apps are those like:

minigps: a preset action occurs depending on ur location
efilemanager/seleq: manage files like windows explorer
opera/doris browser: surfing the net on gprs
smartlauncher: gives ur phone a new look by the use of skins
repligo: file viewer. to view files like ms word, powerpoint etc
mp3go/mp3player: does what the name suggests
pallatte extender: increases the phone menus colours by adding orange, pink, red.
camerafx/photographer: adds digital zoom and some other functionality to the camera
Eti camcorder hantro etc: allow recording of video that are more then 95kb
goboy: gameboy emulator
msg: plays mgs games

there are still many others out there. :)

Tycoon,

At this point its looking like the various yahoo groups are the best source for the 3650's. At one of them, sorry but I've joined SEVERAL in the last couple of days, there was a zip file that was about two megs that had all of the Doom files, the mmc patch and two readme.txt's in it.

Just follow the directions... First install all of the doom sis files in the order from the wildpalm readme, making sure to install them all to the mmc, then install the mmc patch, also to the mmc. Then before you play you'll want to reboot your phone.

When you get it working let me know how stable it is for you... I only get a level or two before it crashes out on me.

boo,

You're right it is a bit overwhelming. I still haven't really found a good source that says 'this file does this, it kicks ass' or 'this file does this, it blows.' Most of the groups just have FAT stacks of files, but no description as to what does what.

This is going to be a LONG process...

Two more quick questions: How do I find out what firmware my phone is and does it matter? Can I use mp3s as ring tones and if so, how?

I've got access to a Solaris box running Apache... I could probably get away with half a gig or so of hard disk space and pretty much unlimited bandwidth. (10mbit, co-lo hosting facility) I'm thinking that if I don't find a resource for good info, maybe some of you out there with experience would help me build one. (no files, just info/reviews/advice) I would have to move it to its own hosting eventually if it outgrows the lab here at work. Just a thought to throw out into the void...

firmware type in *#0000# and for mp3 ringtones you need to convert the file to wav or amr format

Hrmm, I'm running 2.54... does it matter?

Does PC Suite downsample mp3's when they are transferred to the phone? Or should I downsample them on my PC first. I figure mono 64k should be more than sufficient for the phone. Hell, I might even play with 32k and 22khz...

The one i downloaded was a zip file around 1.6mb and contained some installation files and only one readme file for instructions on the installing order. There was no mmc patch and the the only doom i could find on net was doom for 7650 version 1.2. Before also i installed it on the mmc and it did not detect other files. Does that mean the one i downloaded is only for 7650 thats the only i could i find. I found another two three sources of download but all at end are same. Do you still have the setup files and u could transfer it to me somehow.
Thank You

wild palm have only produced a "7650" version thats why it only runs on the 3650 phones memory, (to do with root directories) the mmc patch upgrades it so it can find the files on mmc which didnt exist when it was originally made before the 3650 was released
