from what I heard you run 12.5 vols across the chip to "reset" it to blank and writeable. but I don't know how and what pins etc.

I heard exactly the same but with just 12v. That apparently unlocks the chip so it can be re-written. No idea how though or if its even true.............

but still pointing it to the land of ferrytales...

and i'm 100% sure that the owner of site above does NOT know tis or can even program a descent software.. anyways.. you would still need a box.
