u dont unlock the services as they are already on the phone (DUH) u have to ring up your operator for your sim to be activated for MMS, GPRS and WAP
they will activate your sim and send you the settings

what phone is it

yeah just ring up your network provider and they will send you the relevant sim updates.

Its a Nokia 6100, originally locked to the Amena network. I had already done what you suggested but its wont activate the services. Tells me that these services are locked to Amena and we are using Movistar. Here for example there are different codes just for Amena, as in .. one unlocking code, lets say motorola by imei, under any other network is fine , but under Amena you must use a completely different code. I just thought there might be a stand alone software to remove this restriction. Thanks

Ok this is exactly the point guys, the EDIT GPRS profile menu is MISSING which means that the phone is WPA locked. This is NOT a povider issue. THe issue here is that one WAP profile was created and then editing functions were removed so that now the phone only has the settigs for the profile of the old WAP - that is the 10 digint # to dia, name and password. Those settings are not accessible for editing and hence the phone is useless despite the fact that it is SIM unlocked and can place voice calls with any SIM

How DO YOU UNLOCK the WAP profile editing functions so that you can change the settings? Can it be done with the usual SIM unlocking cable or it needs a flash

Your phone has locked wap settings. Go to a dealer with nokia service softawre phoenix and tell to flash phone with product code definition file for retail phone (non-provider).

This will reset the waplocks.

Thanks gsm community

However the dealers here hardly can communicate with you (using human language). I am not joking. Do you have someone particular in mind, like your local cell shop, that can do this? I, and others like me are probably totally stuck with this WAP lock. Thank you

with my Cingular SIM, I am not able to change between Automatic and Manual network selection. The menu item doesn't exist. Once I put in a different SIM, the option appears.

It could be contained in the SIM. See if you can get your hands on a different carrier's SIM.

I found an excellent place that unlocked all possible hidden menus of my Nokia for $25. They also upgraded the software to the latest release. Now I setup my profiles and WAP works. Up yours AT&T locking policy :)

McHale, I have seen this, the firmware of your phone is modified so if it sees SIM wth the carrier ID that matches their hard coded number if hides the manual selection. My old 3390 did that (the selection shows up with non-Cingular SIM) but my super-old 2190 had really old software and it would show the selection with any SIM including Cingular.

After these people 'fixed' my 6310i, that selection whos up as well with my Cingular SIM.

The place is www.xxxxxxxxxxxx.com
